I am from Boulder Colorado, I moved to Kauai 6 years ago. I love island life. I am very active here, I enjoy kayaking, hiking, and biking. I enjoy sharing the many special sites on the island.
My recent visit to Kauai was my very first time to Hawaii and now I know why they call it paradise! But my trip was even more special because I stayed at Marva's beautiful home. It's a lovely setting with a beautiful restful view of green lush hills in the distance and horses and cows in adjacent fields. I stayed for 2 weeks and never tired of the place, spending evenings in the lanai with a book after a day of hiking, swimming or touring museums and botanical gardens. Marva's place is centrally located making day trips to the west, south and north of the island very accessible. And there are excellent walking beaches and swimming beaches and hikes and a river within minutes of her place. If that wasn't fabulous enough Marva is a wonderful hostess; she gave me all kinds of tips to get the most out of my visit- including how to avoid traffic . She was there when I needed her, but never interfered with my need for privacy. And she showed me some of her favorite hikes and introduced me to her wonderful circle of friends. As I traveled alone this was really delightful. I fell in love with Kauaii and when I go back I will certainly stay with Marva.
Wailua forces you to slow down and enjoy life, and this comfortable country oasis is perfectly situated in a very convenient spot to launch adventures both north and south. Marva's hospitality made our stay so easy and she was so accommodating. Fresh Kauai eggs for breakfast was a fantastic send off!
Marva's home is lovely. It is very comfortable, spacious, and clean. Marva was a good host who was willing to give travel information and recommendations. It was very convenient to be able to rent her SUV while we were there and the home is located close to Lihue airport.
We had a very nice stay at Marva & Roger's place. Marva was out of town, but Roger was a very friendly host! Many positives and some negatives:
- the room was nice and ensuite bathroom was great. Excellent, upgraded shower
- Marva & Roger are both good, friendly people
- great location about 5 min drive to downtown Kapaa
- you have access to beautiful kitchen and fridge space
- Parking, washer/dryer, Wi-Fi
- Provided beach towels
- The mattress was in rough shape. I think the springs were gone on my side, so I had some back pain by the end of my stay
- No air conditioning (ceiling fan keeps you cool though)
- somewhat lack of privacy, but you are renting a room in someone's house, so you know that in advance!
- only a bottle of body wash provided, so you need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer, etc. if you need it
Overall, we had a fun time in Kauai. This is a wonderful place to stay, is in a great location, and the price was right.
Thank you, Marva & Roger!
I have done some AirBnB stays and this one ranks amongst the best. I would highly recommend the apartment for its spotless and beautiful furniture, the wonderful bathroom as well as for the location. Marva was very nice, always laughing and smiling. She was quick to respond to my inquiry and further communication. She did everything to make us feel at home. Thanks Marva for this wonderful week in paradise!
Perfect place for our 3-day stay in Kauai. Well-located for jaunts to both the west and north shores of the island. Room was very comfortable, and bathroom was awesome. Great water pressure on the rain-style showerhead. Marva was away at the time of our visit but her roommate was extremely hospitable and full o good tips for us.
My wife and I had a great 2-day stay at Marva's. Marva is a gracious host and has a beautiful house in Kapaa. The room was very spacious and clean and we could use her kitchen as well. Marva has decorated her place tastefully and the house has a very positive energy and feel to it. My wife also got a facial at Marva's spa and really loved it. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
I can sit down and write a long review of Marva’s amazing hospitality and what her house has to offer. But I would cut to the chase. It is my humble opinion, but I had the best time of my life. No hotels or resorts will ever be able to offer me peace and tranquility I desired so much when I came there. And Marva did it so great. She is so easy person to get alone, at least for me. The house is great and has anything you need. We cooked, talked, kayaked, and hiked together. I went to find a comfortable accommodation, and on top, I found an amazing person and hopefully friend. I can’t wait to go to Kauai again, meet her again, and stay at her house. This time I am going to stay longer and enjoy island and her company more.
Marva is a very warm- hearted women with a great sense of humor. She took me out for a hike and I also spent time with her and her friends, which was so nice...especially because I traveled alone. The house and the room was super clean, better than many hotel rooms. Thank you Marva for a great start here on Kauai, see u soon :)
