Laura and Zack were great hosts. They have a very nice house and were very inviting. They made us feel very much at home. Our first of two mornings, we got up late and ended up jamming some on guitars and piano with Zack for a while, just sharing songs we wrote or knew. There was freshly baked bread and the most delicious oil infusion I've ever had. They make some of their own soaps and candles…Even though they told me I didn't have to wash our dishes, I wanted to, just so I could smell their homemade peppermint soap. The main house is very airy and full of natural light. Finally, their pets were very enjoyable as well. Toby (dog) was very well mannered and cute as a button and loves playing. Tank (cat #1…#2 wasn't seen much) was a sweetie and very affectionate and slept with us. Overall, a great place to stay. Note: an earlier guest mentioned that the bedroom was cold. There is a small space heater (house is heated by wood) for the room, and it works SO WELL. We had to turn it down! :)
Laura and family were kind and interesting hosts. Their house was bright in the mornings and cozy in the evenings. It was easy to get to Amherst and Northampton, with the benefit of a beautiful valley setting.
Super wonderful! Laura and Zack were great hosts - I was there for parents weekend at UMass so gone much of the day. Zack, Abel and the dogs/cats met me when I came in. I was able to hang out a bit with both and very much enjoyed our conversations. Breakfasts were amazing - the first morning I came out of my room to a potential spread, but already had plans to eat with my nephew. So I only had some papaya, fresh picked berries and French press coffee (all yummy). The next morning, Zack cooked a veggie omelet with bounty from the garden - kale, onion, garlic.
Highly recommend - I had a wonderful place to stay and met terrific people!
We made our plans last minute and Laura got right back to us. The cabin is super charming! Lake Dunmore is beautiful and the hiking and views were incredible. We had a quiet, relaxing get away and that is exactly what we were hoping for.
Staying at Laura's cabin behind Camel's hump was exactly what I wanted. On the property is an inground pool as well as main building social hall complete with ping pong, childrens books, couches and more.
The paddleboat did have a whole and sank but I was able to get it back to shore. I plan to go back again yearly.
Love this place! A little rustic, maybe, for some, but this was just right for us. Access to a dock, grill, fire pit, and with a great and helpful caretaker in Tim. The cabin itself has everything you need. We just might be back!
The cabin was absolutely perfect and just as described. We went with three kids 7 and under and it was great. The little rec room on the property was such a fun spot for the kids with tons of toys, board games, books, etc. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to cook meals. There were plenty of boats and life jackets for us to use (we brought our own for the two younger ones but borrowed ones for us and our older child). It is a great spot for families or a grown ups only trip, would highly recommend and definitely plan on going back!
We loved this cabin and the surrounding area. My boyfriend and I just returned from a long weekend in Lake Dunmore and it was wonderful. I participated in the local triathalon in the beautiful lake. What a great place to run and bike and swim. The lake is clean and cute. There are boats available to rent for pleasure or fishing.
The cabin itself was adorable, very charming and clean. Our stay was during August. There was no A/C but that was no issue at all, very cool and breezy at night. The cabin had everything you could need such as plates, silver wear , and a coffee maker. on the property is a communal pool that is clean and well kept. Also, rec hall with games, pool, ping pong, and books. There was even horseshoes! Lots of activities and fun!
The only helpful hints I can give are to bring your own towels and bedding. I didn't get great cell phone service so it was helpful to print out the directions to get there. Two thinks I wish I brought were garbage bags, and dish soap. There is a small general store about two miles down the road that had any little thing we needed ... Even wine!
The caretaker Tim and his wife were very helpful giving information of where to go, what to do, and answering any questions we had. We can't wait to plan our next stay!
Laura and her partner Zach were lovely people. Despite a late arrival on my part, they greeted me and helped me up to my room. We shared a nice chat before bed. The house was beautiful, tidy, and spacious. Their pets are great and my dog, Lola, was welcomed and had fun with the other pets. Zach made coffee and fresh juice in the morning and I had access to lots of fresh, organic food to make breakfast with. They were very kind. The location was beautiful, abutting a farm, and a quick drive into Amherst.
Our host was very nice, we had great time touring her garden and it was nice learning about the neighbor hood. Looking out the window , seeing the mountain was a special treat.
Thanks Laura for leaving the room so neat. It was a pleasure having you and Sarah stay here. We are also grateful for your recommendation to Sarah.

The cabin is adorable, clean, and comfy. So many choices of activities ... the lake, the social hall, ping pong, basketball, games, etc... and many excellent hikes, rivers, water falls, and swimming holes .. all nearby.
