I'm from Genoa and I came back to live here after many years, I love my city. I'm curious person and I like traveling and meet new people. I work at the Museum of Contemporary Art Villa Croce which is a very lively and charming place.

This was a very cool place to stay. Charming indeed. Well equipped and comfortable. Luisa made us really welcome and booked a table for us at local restaurant. Highly recommended.
Sejour parfait, Luisa est adorable, disponible et de très bons conseils, l'appartement est conforme aux descriptions : grand, confortable et délicieusement atypique dans un ancien quartier calme et proche du centre.
The Piazza is not easy to find, but when we did find it we were met by a smiling Luisa who helped us with the luggage and finding a parking lot. (If you come by car you have to unload on the street while trying not to block the traffic a couple of minutes away from the building.)
The surroundings and the building itself involve a lot of stair climbing which is ok for healthy adults and older children but was not very practical for us with a baby in a pram. The flat is stunning; it is very comfortable and tastefully decorated (and perfectly clean), and it felt more like a home than a holiday flat. The kitchen equipment does not suggest big cooking but is sufficient for making breakfast and cooking light meals. This might not be the perfect place for families with toddlers, what with the kitchen area not having a hand railing/balustrade. The nights were quiet. Luisa is a very friendly and helpful host, and I am sorry we didn´t have time to visit the museum where she works.
The good: This is a great location. EVERYthing is within walking distance and the area is super quiet in the evenings. The apartment is bright and airy and comfortable. We had no problems with just hanging out on the big, oversized sofas.
The bad: The twisty, narrow roads of Genova make the apartment somewhat hard to find after a long flight delay and a drive from Malpensa, even with a navi. Luisa was ill and couldn't meet us and without her help it was difficult to then find the actual apartment, as Olivella is quite a large building with many staircases. The second bed is a worn out futon that is fine for one person, but two people keep rolling into the middle. It also wasn't made up and though we located a sheet, there was no duvet cover. I also got a 32€ parking ticket for parking where she suggested and though I asked for assistance on how to pay (it was all in Italian), she didn't reply. The shower is a bit of a trick and the second bathroom is not for tall people.
I'm sure we were difficult to deal with since we were 4 hours behind schedule and then lost in the city for another hour. We were tired and not ready for 160 steps in an unfamiliar location to an apartment that was just plain difficult to find given the instructions. In the end we found it and it was lovely. Note: the apartment has some "unprotected platforms" so it is not for those who drink a lot or small children.
We absolutely loved that place! Located uphill in a very charming neighborhood, it is beautifully decorated, very luminous and cozy, the kind of place we would like to live all year round ; )
Nice collection of photography books too....
Luisa's place was beyond fantastic!!! It was huge and absolutely beautiful. The location was perfect--it's right in piazza del carmine, which has plenty of cafes and activity (though quiet at night for good sleeping!), and is a very short walk from anything you might want in Genoa. the two bedrooms are very private and nice, and there's definitely room for at least 2 more guests (6 total) on the 2 couches in the sitting room. The little terrace gives a BEAUTIFUL view of the area, and the kitchen, dining table, and wonderful sitting area really make it a spacious and homey place to stay. I cannot recommend it highly enough!!
Our host made us feel welcome, accurate description of listing and neighbour friendly and excellent.
An absolutely beautiful flat, the pictures don't do it justice - big and airy and lovely views. And in an incredible spot in a mystical convent.
Luisa was really helpful too.
The apartment is really great and centrally located. Our stay there was amazing!
We were very well received by Luisa who met us at the square below the street to the apartment. It is really spacious for being so central in the city and somewhat artistic-Bohemian. The shower and kitchen are not super luxury, but everything you need is there, and the space, quietness, charm and friendliness of the place compensate. The balcony is smaller than it might look on the photos. Internet connection was spotty sometimes (Italian Vodaphone system) but Luisa did her immediate best to solve this. An important thing to take into account is the many steps going up to the apartment (outside and inside the building) - at 6 months pregnant this was hard going (especially carrying shopping up after sight seeing all day), although our 7 year-old daughter ran up and down and loved the place. So you need to be minimally young and/or fit!
Luisa's group was a suprising, unexpected but very friendly group. They left the house tidy and clean and took care of the house with care. I'd welcome them again in Amsterdam.
