This was one of the best Airbnb experience I've ever had! John was very accommodating his apartment is huge and spotless and we were very comfortable.
What a great first Air BnB experience! John was a great host. He offered suggestions for places in the neighborhood, left helpful tips about the apartments quirks (the water gets HOT!) and it was an easier process than what we expected. We loved the apt and neighborhood and look forward to staying at John's again on out next trip! Definitely will recommend :)
John is the perfect host, very communicative and helpful. Made my first Airbnb experience a great one. Hope to stay here again next time I'm in the city!
We had a fantastic time at John's wonderful home. The house is cozy, welcoming, and perfectly suited for dinner parties and fireside conversations. He set us up well with plenty of firewood and a stocked pantry. One thing to note is that there is no cell service or Wifi in the house, but you can get both in the nearby town of Stamford (~25 minute drive).
We would absolutely return!
Couldn't be more pleased with our stay. John was incredibly accommodating in every way. From the very start, he made us feel right at home. The apartment was great and exactly as advertised, and the neighborhood was beautiful. When I find myself in New York again, this is definitely where I want to stay. Thanks, John!
John's place was clean, amazingly unique, tranquil, and charming. It was the perfect weekend getaway for myself and my fella. John himself was a very open and warm person. He shared a bit about himself with us over a glass of wine, which added to the fun of our stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend John's home away from home to anyone!
John was a very accommodating host. His place was left in perfect condition and felt like a hotel when we walked in (he had music playing, soft lighting left on, and clean linens waiting for us). It is a classic New York apartment, so anyone staying here will get the classic NYC experience of sirens, lots of coats of paint on everything, and tricky plumbing; but it's all charming and made us miss living in new york even more - it was a very quiet neighborhood compared to most NYC streets. Also, John's apartment has a very eclectic modern feel and he's got great taste.
We didn't actually get to meet John because of a missed flight, but he made a key pick-up extremely easy and was flexible about the timing.
As for the neighborhood, it's incredible what a difference of 6 years makes - I used to live off of Eastern Parkway when there was literally nothing cool to do aside from the park and BK museum. Now there are great restaurants, bars, convenience stores, etc. all within several blocks. Definitely recommended!
The first visit was apparently not enough, so I returned to John's beautiful home for a second time this past weekend. The house was as warm and welcoming as the last time we arrived, John even left us a bottle of wine and a note to settle us in after a long drive. There was plenty of wood for the fire and the house was cosy and clean. We spent the weekend cooking, sitting by the fire and going for walks amongst the farmlands. Once again having no internet and no phone signal was a blessing, and if we really wanted to we could get phone signal by driving nearby or visiting the farmstand on Rt 10 on saturdays where they have wifi.
Had a great time staying in johns Brooklyn flat. Well located close to a subway, great restaurants and cosy bars and the flat itself is a true gem. Beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of mid century pieces and johns own style, it was a great place to stay. John was really nice and helpful - suggesting things to do in the area and making suggestions of where to go for drinks and food. Would definitely recommend it to anyone going to New York looking to stay a bit off the beaten track!
John welcomed us giving us all of the information that we needed for our stay. As our daughter lies blocks away we did not need information about the neighborhood. We did like having the space to spread out. As we were on vacation the only use of the kitchen was for tea and a protein shake in the morning. John even texted during our stay to see if he could be of any help.
