A filmmaker, journalist and writer with a passion for storytelling, a thirst for knowledge and a love of research. I have worked in media and communications since playing with video cameras in high school.
Kicking off my post university career in South Australia's capital Adelaide, I specialised in interactive multimedia production and education whilst publishing zines and corporate newspapers. During that time I fed my passion for hip hop, funk and soul music through presenting/producing a radio show, photographing and documenting gigs, and writing a cultural studies honours thesis on Australian hip hop.
I spent three years living and working in Vietnam as an AusAID volunteer communications specialist and a producer and presenter for Vietnam Television. During that time I travelled extensively through Southeast Asia, immersing myself in exotic cultures and history, sparking friendships with colourful characters, exploring temples and winding rivers, and relishing sumptuous and varied cuisine.
I've called the Northern Territory home for the past four years. Once a desert child in many remote parts of Australia, I now enjoy the tropics in all its states - from the sunny and light dry season that runs from one glorious day to the other, to the stormy, sultry build up that simultaneously inspires and saps.
I still can't come to terms with the fact I can't swim in the surrounding aquamarine sea upon which I cast my eyes every day - it beckons like a deadly siren ... but the Top End's people, its epic landscapes and cool waterfalls and springs, its fruits and its fishing keep me calling it home.
I care about the environment. Full stop. I buy organic produce and support local producers where possible. I recycle. I used to be vegetarian until I almost fainted. I want to design my own home that capitalises on the sun's heat and the wind's cool, complete with alternative energy and grey water systems. I hug trees. I don't appreciate people who are wasteful and inconsiderate of the earth that sustains and supports their life.
My trusty tredly gets me around the city. I like walking and running to stay ready for on-set action and practice yoga to stay centred and grounded. I love to dance and believe groove is in the heart.
My friends are those who are kind and generous in thought and deed, and are grateful for all life's blessings.
