One of the first things you notice about Arizona is that everyone is from someplace else! As for me, I'm from southern California. I spent several years living and working in Yosemite National Park before moving here in 2012. Tempe is very different in climate from my home state, but being a university town it has a lot of diversity and a welcoming culture.
Living in Tempe is wonderful! It's bike-friendly (for Arizona, anyway!), so I'm able to commute by bike to work. There's also lots to do recreationally: I go running at Tempe Town Lake, climbing at the indoor rock gym and out in Superior, and hiking in nearby South Mountain Park. I also drag random friends up "A" mountain at ASU. Summer is not nearly as bad as everyone says, especially since swimming pools are plentiful and air conditioning abounds.
I love meeting new people and would love to take you on a local adventure. There's a lot to do here! I'll help you make the most of your visit to Tempe!
