Doug was a great host, and I loved staying at his beautiful house. I can only recommend you staying with him.
Doug's spot was just as advertised and fantastic. I heartily recommend it. Really loved his canal area of Venice. Couldn't have been nicer or more friendly.
Doug is an incredible host. He's very friendly and has indeed created a very chilled atmosphere in his lovely home. It's perfectly situated near the beach, Venice canals and the bars, restaurants and shopping of both Washington Blvd and Abbot Kinney. His backyard gets a lot of sun and is the prefect place to kick back if you're not in the mood for the beach. I highly recommend staying here if you've planning a Venice visit.
Geographically Doug's home is an amazing location right off the beach and Washington and a short walk to the exciting Abbot Kinney arts, entertainment and shopping district. The marina is just around the corner as well. There are few hotels in this upscale residential area. Personally, Doug is an amazing person I felt lucky to meet. I had the pleasure of meeting some of his professional friends who similarly are wonderful people. Hotel experiences are superficial and passe compared to the opportunity to be welcomed into a quality person's home. If you have not stayed in this area of LA, you are missing out as the canal area of Doug's home is super special and not to be missed. Well traveled individuals would appreciate the area and Doug's hospitality. The experience is more akin to a bed and breakfast experience than a nightly room share. You will be pleasantly surprised. Two thumbs way up. Thank you Doug for welcoming me into your home.
Really a great location, just a stone throw from the must see Venice Canals. Also staying here feels like you hit the mark for a spot on center point to Venice, Santa Monica and Marina del Rey. Three different experiences at your door step. The host was welcoming and easy going, which is always very important when going to stay in ones home. The place was very neat and had no clutter. The house is also in a very quiet neighborhood and yet so near to more activity and buzz if desired, a perfect blend.
First, I would like to give a triple A+ to Doug and his magnificent vibe This was my very first use of airBnB, navigating the entire process-less than deftly-through a small iPhone. If you're a newcomer, like me, you'll likely assume it's like booking a hotel room (as with Kayak) and you simply show up with your life. Doug is an amazing and natural host and was abundantly kind and gracious as I arrived harried (a local apartment renter, dealing with mold remediation – and needing a last min./immediate place to stay).
To his profound credit, I had my equally apartment-dislocated brilliantly well behaved Chihuahua and an imminent partner due to arrive later that night, after an 8 hour flight delay. My partner ended up with a sore back from the plane flight and needed to sleep on a hard surface, so grab the corner in the living room. Again, as a newcomer, you may not know to begin an email conversation covering potential on-the-fly unknowns in advance. But AirBnB scrupulously vets out their hosts, and Doug is absolutely the pinnacle of what a citizen innkeeper at its finest can be.
If you enjoy the Pacific ocean, Internationally known Venice Beach, the italian canal systems throughout this small beach city, and a chill no pressure getaway with a host who is educated, friendly, and a true standup guy, then your single best Choice is to stay with Doug and enjoy his beach bungalow.

It was my first time with airbnb, and I found it to be very informative. Much better then staying in a hotel.
Doug is an awesome host, friendly, knowledgeable, & accommodating. His house is comfortable, and in a great location which is made even better by the bike you can use. Can't imagine a better place to stay in Venice. I enjoyed my stay immensely, and felt right at home.
