Thank you Pringl for the gift of this beautiful home. It was a wonderful weekend--with both a winter storm and a clear bright sunny day--and we got to see all sides of the Bay. The home is cozy and comfortable--perfect for a small family of 4 like ours. The house is basic and minimalist, soothing and quiet. The beach is just a enjoyable short trek through the dunes. We would love to return soon!
We had a wonderful family gateway at this beautiful house. The views are more than stunning, and the house itself is spacious, cozy and very welcoming. The kitchen was perfect and wide enough to allow a few of us to cook together. The sleeping arrangements were more than enough for the 6 of us (plus a toddler...), and we appreciated the art works on the walls and the beautiful design of the interior. No Internet or even cellular reception, so be prepared to a real getaway...
We will defiantly return to this place and highly recommend it!
Thank you, Pringl, for bring so responsive, accommodating and helpful!
Our stay at Aquene was short and sweet - great view and private location. We were in town for a wedding so didn't get to spend much time at the house but would be nice for a romantic getaway with no tv/internet.
Aquene was a lovely home in a picturesque setting. The windows don't have curtains and for a reason - you're surrounded by beauty! Amenities are appropriate for a beach house and the decor is tasteful and minimalistic, which was relaxing and comfortable. Make sure you notice there's not a regular oven, which may impact your meal choices. Besides that, everything is at your fingertips. Highly recommended.
Aquene was perfect: quiet, beautiful, and perfectly modern. The location is close to everything you need, but still feels remote. The home includes everything you need to relax, cook for yourself, and enjoy the coast.
Pringl was super helpful and quick to respond - a gracious host all around! Can't wait to visit again.
Aquene was everything we had hoped for. Beautiful, well-appointed and the perfect beach getaway. And quiet! The only sound we heard was the waves. It was a wonderful place to spend the holidays and we're already planning a trip back.
Pringl was immediately responsive to any questions before we arrived, and the arrival and departure process was totally smooth. We could not recommend Pringl and her lovely Aquene any higher.
Thank you so much for opening your lovely house for us!
We had a wonderful time there.
The house was just perfect for our needs with two adults and two children. The children loved the loft!
I loved cooking in the kitchen (a lot of space there) and always having the nice view of the hills.
We spent quite some time playing board games at the table pausing now and then to take in the breathtaking view towards the ocean.
It was always a good experience emailing with Pringl and he was helpful in every way.
We enjoyed our little stay and hope to come back some other time.
Aquene is one of the coolest places I've ever stayed, as is evidenced by the 500 pictures I took on one day staying there. The light and views at this house are unparalleled. The art inside the house was almost as cool as the views and grounds outside. A beach nearby, great food and drink within 5 minutes drive, and more incredible sunsets than you could ever imagine.
I've seen one other reviewer do this, and think it's a fair way to review Aquene:
DO stay here if: you want to unplug, enjoy a solitary quiet weekend atop a dune, and rely on only yourself for entertainment. There's no internet, no TVs, and it's awesome for that... if that's what you're after.
THINK TWICE if: you're at all afraid of the dark, or are a pure city-slicker. Aquene and its surroundings are as quiet as quiet can be, making the occasional noise that much "louder." If the dark bothers you, try to be up to the house before sunset: your first night will be much more restful. Once you get an understanding of your surroundings, you realize you are practically in heaven and the silence is amazing.
Overall, we could not have been happier with Aquene and Pringl's responsiveness leading up to the trip. We'll be back!
What a stunning and serene retreat. We loved the setting and the house. No tv (which we loved). Will definitely return!
Thank you Pringl and Fig(her wee dog) for gracing our place and bringing smiles to us all. Cara (our large Leonberger) has been looking for him.
I love it when guests understand the depth of our place, with the horses wandering the woods, the Watsu sessions, the beauty of the forest and meadows - listening to Nature.
I recommend Pringl highly:)
Thank you so much for the wonderful, calm, and relaxing stay at your beautiful serene beach house in Bodega Bay. We had such a nice time. We enjoyed our long walks along the headlands, forging our way to the gorgeous beach, and climbing the sand dunes.
It was salmon season so we BBQ fresh salmon two different days ~ salmon, salad, and wine on the deck...what could be better!! We had a delicious meal at the Terrapin Café...great service and food.
Your house is so comfortable. We loved watching the deer outside the window in the morning, and all the wonderful shore birds on the beach.
We look forward to visiting Aquene again soon.
Ken's poem to Aquene:
Thank you so much for sharing the gifts of Aquene.
The tranquility of disconnection
And while today we must leave,
Aquene shall always be with us
Now, whenever we feel battered by waves of turmoil,
We can imagine Here, and
Step onto soft sand
Breathe deeply of clean salt air
And float over verdant dunes
To a cottage in the mist
A beacon of calm, of peace
Thank you for your support and caring this past year!

When Pringl invited me to a quick visit at her beach house in the fall - little did I know that a spectacularly beautiful landscape and gorgeous retreat awaited me at Aquene. This lovely house provides unlimited peace, relaxation and cozy comfort for 6 people. Everything needed to facilitate your stay, explore the dunes, quasi private beach, read, nap and make your favorite noshes has been thoughtfully provided. The location is perfect and I enjoyed the brief stay so much we are planning a stay this summer for a respite and as a graduation present to our granddaughter as Aquene is just too enjoyable an experience to not share with loved ones!
Here's the poem I wrote while sitting on the beach in front of your place. I think it would give any potential airbnb guest a sense of how wonderful it is there where Salmon Creek comes out to the ocean. Your house is also special with the views all around, the quiet, and clear space.
Thanks, Leslie ;-)
Salmon Creek just north of Bodega Bay
The breeze off the waves
bites my face
while children race
at the foam’s edge.
Four or more sets of rollers,
white topped lace,
crest, break, and reform,
a background for a horse and rider.
The satin sheen of the horse’s dark skin gleams.
As they pace on by,
the horse’s hooves kick up sand.
Footprints, shoeprints, dog prints, webbed seagull prints
texture the sand,
smoothed out by the icy touch
of the scalloped edge
where waves meet sand.
Out further, a high spray of foam,
catches the light,
waves at cross purpose.
Knee deep in hip boots, a fisherman
casts into the surf.
The waves catch the light
on the inside curl before breaking
and race up the sandy slope
to catch my jeans rolled knee high.
My icy feet thaw in the warm sand,
trudging up over the sand dune.
Salmon Creek’s last long curve
sheers off the last sand dune on one side,
rustles through rushes on the other,
to meet the ocean further along than I can see.
Aquene, a beautiful warm and inviting beach house just a short distance from the bay area. Wrap around windows with endless views of the dunes and ocean. Quiet and serenity awaits you at this lovely location. Walk to the beach, picnic outside, star gaze, get cozy next to the fireplace. A perfect get away for much needed relaxation. So comfortable and inviting. Beautifully decorated. Thank you, Pringl
We had the great pleasure of visiting Pringl at her home in Bodega Bay last summer, and we found it awe inspiring. Aquene is a modern architectural gem set in a breathtaking location; the views from the deck and from inside the house are spectacular, and the direct access to the beach calls for a walk across the dunes to the water's edge. The house has unobstructed views on three sides, and it is the perfect space in which to relax. It is cozy and comfortable, with a wonderful sleeping loft overlooking the great room, and it promotes such a feeling of tranquility that you will never want to leave. We loved this place and plan on returning as soon as possible. Many thanks to Pringl, who, as always, made us feel so welcome and at home.
The views go on forever. The proximity to protected State lands insures your privacy. Pringl's home is tasteful and well equipped for a weekend getaway or a longer respite. Love the little town of Bodega Bay. Had some of the best ling cod purchased in the local fish market. Everything Sonoma County has to offer is just out the door: the excellent wineries of Healdsburg, Fetters and Boyes Hot Springs, redwood forests and charming Sebastopol and the Russian river. But end each day on the deck at Pringl's beach house after a stroll through the dunes to the beaches. I will definitely be back.
We stayed at Pringl's home in Bodega for three nights last Fall. What a delight. Quiet seclusion by the sea with quick easy access to Bodega and surrounding towns. Tastefully decorated and very cozy and warm with a charming wood burning stove in the living room.
Exquisite! Rick, just of the Bering Sea, and I felt so lucky to spend time here this fall. We nestled in and could barely stand to leave! We found the privacy, peace and nature we desired surpassing our expectations! With gratitude we will return again and again to explore this beautiful area from AQUENE, a true sanctuary. Ann Nora
