I am a sociologist at Indiana University, Bloomington. I've written books on Black Power & the emergence of Black Studies, the protest movement against the Iraq War, and how to survive academic grad school. I've also gotten lots of media attention for my "more Tweets, more votes" paper. In the IU Sociology Department, I teach the intro course, Economic Sociology, Social Theory, and Social Networks. Otherwise, I'm with my spouse, 6-year-old daughter, and almost-2-year-old son. I love Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Woody Shaw, & Wayne Shorter; dragging my children to art exhibits; and kvetching over Philadelphia sports teams.
