Let me preface this by saying I had a very nice stay in Florida and in general liked the building as well as the bones of the apartment. But it didn’t take long to realize we were dealing with a difficult and unaccommodating landlord. It began with the apartment being incomplete on move in day (even though we arrived at 8pm) with numerous necessities missing, boxes and trash left for us to deal with, along with other unmet tasks that became our responsibility (e.g. washing all the sheets, towels, dishes, etc.). The master bathroom was essentially under construction with a missing backsplash, a broken shower door and mirrors that were not hung over the sinks, and not completed in the 3 months we had the place. Darrell (the host) was furnishing the place from scratch, so we really had no clue as to what we would be walking into, but we trusted that it would be a level of quality acceptable for a $2mm beachfront apartment in Miami (and the corresponding generous price we were paying). Unfortunately, we found the majority of the furnishings and other items (e.g. sheets) to be very budget. There was very little consideration for us and the top dollar we were paying when it was obvious the landlord cut corners in every way he could.
But the most egregious part was the patio furniture debacle. Darrell had assured us there would be furniture on the main terrace. The main oceanfront terrace was a key if not the key reason we rented the apartment. When we arrived, there was no furniture. Finally, 4 days later a small box arrived. Darrell had purchased a budget 4 piece patio set sight unseen from a discount store for around $300 (that we were responsible for getting together) Not only tacky, uncomfortable and inappropriate, but too light and a safety hazard (the pillows blew away the first week). After numerous emails, Darrell agreed to pay us half to buy chaise lounge chairs for the patio (THAT HE INSISTED ON CHOOSING). And when it came to the cushions (which were 100% necessary), he refused to pay and that cost came out of our pocket. It was less about the money and more about the principal.
Shortly after we arrived is when Darrell went dark. Emails, texts and calls went unanswered. He neglected to pay the cable bill and cable was shut off. He failed to let us know we had to register with the condo (and pay a $100 fee and $1000 deposit). He left us no instructions to check out. We let him know we had spent ~$400 on necessities for his home (hangers, hampers, kitchen stuff) that we would leave and were hoping for reimbursement for just half. No reply and obviously no reimbursement.
To conclude, Darrell failed us miserably as a host.

The house is just spectacular. The beds are insanely comfortable. It was a wonderful space to share. I don't know why it wasn't more apparent to us, but there is a FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE that runs you from the house to Park City whenever you need. We were there for Sundance, so sometimes the wait was up to 30 minutes, but for the most part, we didn't need the car we rented.
It took us a bit to get the wifi working, but once that was set, we were in for a lovely time!
Darrell's house is beautiful, clean and in a great location. Although we didn't get to ski (we were there for Sundance), there is a ski lift just steps from the house. The views in the morning and evening are spectacular. When I return to Park City, I would definitely look up this house to rent again...hopefully it would be available. Thank you Darrell for all the kindness in making our experience great.
Darrell's apart was the highlight of our vacation in New York City. My boyfriend and I enjoyed his apartment and the views it had to offer. It's a few minutes walk to the metro and the highline. The convenient store in the lobby was really great for our stay for anything we may have needed. The apartment also has friendly 24 hour doorman. Darrell's apartment comes equipped with just about anything you need, most especially his washer and dryer in the unit. The photos does not do it justice as previously reviewed. We had one set back when his shower wasn't working properly, but the maintenance guys came to fix it first thing in the morning being that we had let them know about midnight after a night of walking around the city. We will definitely be saving his apartment for a future visit. Thank you Darrell for allowing us to stay at your wonderful apartment.
Darrell is a smart and real nice guy. His property is very nice and is just as he advertises it to be. I will definitly rent from him again.
