I am an artist. Can't you tell by my beret? Ha! I've lived in Williamsburg for 12 years and have a big studio in Brooklyn too- where I work.
Cute, cozy apartment, fantastic location in charming, lively neighborhood, easy-going and helpful host! Can't recommend this place enough and will probably be back the next time we're i NYC.
This was my first time using Airbnb and I initially had some reservations about staying in a complete strangers apartment. Not only did Kate completely come to my rescue when another host flaked out on me, but she was also very sweet and accomodating, putting me at ease immediately as I wasn't sure what to expect. Communication and key hand-off was a breeze and the apartment itself is very charming and cozy, perfect for a solo traveller or couple. It's 5 flights up on the back side of an older walk-up, and the placement makes it very quiet and serene, you are isolated from most of the street noise and city sounds which was a big plus in my book. Nice view of neighbors roofs, etc...There are some great bars and restaurants right on the block (try Lodge - yummy!) and Bedford Ave (a short walk) has even more to offer. We walked everywhere! Never had to take cabs and if you need to go into the city, this is located conveniently close to 2 different subway lines. When I travel to NY again I will definitely be staying at Kates!
Perfect location, cozy apartment and Kate is an extremely accommodating host! The vietnamese place downstairs is great too
Kate's place was perfect for us. Clean and cosy. It was located near good food, coffee, and the metro. Kate was very responsive and kind.
Kate's place was ideal for my stay and she couldn't have been more accommodating. Arriving at JFK on a last minute trip, I contacted her through airbnb and got an immediate response as she'd had a cancellation. She even popped round at 3am when I had a problem with the door on the first night - can't ask more than that! Great communication and made me feel at ease. Her apartment is positioned very conveniently, being within easy walking distance of all of the Williamsburg hotspots and a very short subway journey into Manhattan, and provided a good base for my trip. Will be getting in touch next time I'm in town.
I had planned to stay at Kate's place for four days but hurricane Irene had other ideas!! I ended up only having one night in New York in the end after flight cancellations and rescheduling. I was in regular contact with Kate during the whole saga and she was always quick to keep me updated of the current situation. When I managed to get an earlier flight Kate was flexible enough to work with me at short notice.
Kate''s place is located in Williamsburg within easy walking distance to Bedford and all the sites. Her place is simply decorated and was perfect for my needs.
One sentence review- take this apartment! It's fantastic!
Longer- What a perfect apartment! Located in the heart of Williamsburg, like 10 minutes from the fantastic shops on Bedford Ave. Kate's apartment is filled to the gills with records and feminist literature- an A+ in my book. Also her cat, Tilda, is the world's first laid-back cat. Just feed and pet- Kate took care of the litter box beforehand. She also left a very helpful note explaining where the trash is, where to put things, etc. She checked in a few times, never too worried.
The bed can comfortably fit two people (or you + Tilda), and you'd be hard pressed to find a better location in BK. I lived here for two weeks, and was sad to leave it. It's not fancy, but it's got character and spunk. Better then any hotel. that's for sure.
