Don't be fooled by the slightly ramshackle approach through a messy boatyard if you come by taxi. Once you're on the wobbly bridge from land to boat, it is cosy and warm and beautifully equipped inside. Late January/early February may not seem like the best choice to hit Denmark but we were there partly for the Nordic Noir tours as fans of Borgen, The Bridge etc. The weather actually helped with the drama atmosphere, and was never so cold or wet that we couldn't venture out. Marianne herself was very helpful and welcoming, and left some food in the fridge for us, as well as taking us on a walkabout to show us how to get into town. The experience of being on the Gea for four nights was genuinely quirky and fun, as well as being quiet and comfortable. The cormorants, ducks and the odd seagull were great companions. The bus is two minutes away - No.30 - and even better, after a ten minute walk, the Harbour waterbus that runs right into the centre of town. There's a good supermarket called Irma near where the Harbour boat leaves. Check out the hundreds of young professionals flats and the streets named after Jazz musicians. We couldn't really think of a more unusual yet relaxing place to be. Highly recommended!
We loved our stay on Gea, the boat had everything we needed and more and was lovely and bright and cosy. It was great waking up on the water every day and although it is a ten minute trip by public transport into the centre, the harbour bus which departs from just across the water was a great way to see some of the city. There is a supermarket and cafe very close by too. Marianne was a fantastic host, very flexible with check in times and came to meet us on arrival and departure. She also left us some yummy supplies including chocolate and beer which was very kind! Would recommend to any one.
We had a wonderful stay at Marianne's boathouse. It is a beautiful home in a lovely and tranquil area. Marianne was very helpful and made our stay enjoyable and welcoming. She had left food and goodies for us when we arrived late in the evening the first day. We hope to come again!
We had a fantastic time staying on this lovely houseboat. It was a beautiful, comfortable place to stay and very easy to get into the centre of Copenhagen (10 mins on a bus, bus stop just by the boat).
Marianne was lovely, she came to say hi and show us round the boat - was very flexible about times, and had left us some tea/coffee etc to get us going.
I would heartily recommend this to anyone who wants to visit the lovely city of Copenhagen but wants to stay "somewhere special"
Marianne vulde de koelkast met ontbijt, chocolade, druiven en een biertje. Enthousiast gaf ze alle nodige info over de stad en hoe die te bereiken.
Wonderful space to come back to after a day's sightseeing....and to wake up to. No 30 bus and waterbus provide easy routes to downtown. Marianne a welcoming and informative host
Overall, our stay on Gea was a lovely experience. Marianne was a most gracious and generous hostess. Upon arrival, she greeted us warmly and provided a number of helpful words of advice. The boat was exactly as advertised and pictured; pleasantly decorated, amazing clean and well appointed,
Gea proved to be a comfortable and cozy base for our Copenhagen vacation. Marianne's well stocked kitchen was a pleasure to use, made no less so by her generous provisions that she made available to us. No one could hope for a more attentive and thoughtful host.
As noted above, Gea was a calm and pleasant base for our Copenhagen visit. AirBnb users should bear in mind, however, that it is some distance from the City Center. Although the boat is served by a busy bus line with a stop no more than 500 feet away, travelers like us who prefer to discover a new city on foot may find the location somewhat problematic. I would recommend that travelers enjoying Marianne's lovely boat plan to investigate the cost of renting a bicycle or purchasing a public transportation pass, which like everything in Denmark are breathtakingly expensive to the American traveller.
Marianne's house boat is truly magical! We loved our time there! My daughter and I spent two days two nights there and it was the best place we stayed during our trip to Copenhagen. While the houseboat is about 15 minutes away by bus from central station and Tivoli, it makes up for it with the peace, quiet and beautiful view. Very comfortable bed too! Highly highly recommend! Marianne was also the most professional and responsive airbnb host I encountered on our trip to Denmark and Sweden.
We have enjoyed our stay on the houseboat very much. It was very comfortable. The kitchen was perfect, fully equipped and we appreciated to have a dish washer and laundry machine. We used the kitchen quite a bit because we found restaurants in Copenhagen to be very expensive whereas food prices (groceries) are quite reasonable and comparable to Germany. We also used the fire place because the first 2 days were very rainy and somewhat cold. The bed was very comfortable and cousy.
Marianne was always very responsive and very nice. She filled the refrigerator for us with some of the most needed things which we would found especially nice. Thanks, Marianne!
We took the bus 30 (the stop is right next to the boat on the mainroad) to downtown as well as the waterbus 992 (a 10 min walk to the stop) which is a very unique experience and sightseeing tour in itself.
We can recommend the Copenhagen Card as well if you go to many museums. It also includes entrance to Tivoli each day the card is valid - (not only once!) this is useful because you can just walk through the park at various times and you are not forced to cover it all in one day.
We arrived having driven from Ireland and what an oasis we found in Slusen. Marianne is a wonderful host whose laid back ways relaxes all . The houseboat is wonderful . We cooked , we swam , we foraged in the green area nearby . We learned to recognise havtorns the buckthorn berries that we subsequently encountered again and again . All that and a family of ducks .The complete Copenhagen experience . We couldn't have hoped for more . Thanks Marianne and we will return .
Kan anbefale at leje dette sted, hvis man gerne vil være tæt på centrum og samtidig nyde roen ved vandet.
Samtidig er Marianne en tillidsfuld person, så her kan man være i trygge hænder.
