Hi I'm Margaret. I would be very happy to welcome you here at Combe House. Please just send me a message if you have any questions.
Margaret's Combe House was perfect for our stay in Bath. The backyard was perfect - our kids loved playing on the soccer field, and running around on the grass.
The home itself it very nice, and beautifully appointed.
We had a wonderful time at Margaret's house. We spent four nights there with 5 people. The house and grounds were beautiful. There really is a soccer field below the house. The house is very well appointed and the beds are very comfortable. The place is situated between the country and the city. We took long walks on paths on several days, and walked into the city proper on others. It is a hike down to the city of Bath proper and back, but cabs and buses are readily available. If you are looking for a place right in the city, this is not for you. Visitors should know that Bath is very hilly and this house is up on a ridge over the city.
The kitchen is very usable and anything you would need for cooking is available. It was really nice to be able to take our breakfast in the garden. Margaret has a green thumb and has extensive flower and vegetavle gardens.
The village that the house is actually in, Combe Down, is a five minute walk away on a walking path, and has a nice grocery and deli. There are other stores a little futher along on the high road.
We used the house as a base to explore Bath. We also took a day trip to Stonehenge and Salisbury.
Our host, Margaret, was very accomodating, and gave us a very thorough introduction to her house. She was accessable when we needed her before we arrived as well. All in all a good deal. And we would stay there again if we were ever back in Bath.
Margaret was a lovely host. She explained everything about the house in detail. The house worked very well for us. In particular it has a large garden which my children enjoyed very much as they could play soccer in it. The structure of the house works very well with decent sized bedroom (the one at the top is very large! The house was clean. It could use a little bit of updating generally (that is why I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 star) but overall was very good. Would recommend it to families with school age children.
My friend and I stayed with maragaret in the Piha room for a long weekend in Bath. It was wonderful. The room was very clean, had our own separate bathroom, had an amazing view from the windows and the mattress was easily one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. Maragaret was very kind and sweet and helpful about what to do around town and she cooks a fantastic full English breakfast. My friend and I loved our very relaxing stay there and would recommend it.
Margaret was the perfect host, graciously accepting our last-minute, one-night-only booking, providing us with a gorgeous cosy room to sleep in with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, cooking us a delicious full English breakfast in the morning and even offering us a lift into town with her! We thoroughly enjoyed our little break at Combe house - thank you Margaret! The walk from the house into the centre of Bath takes about half an hour (all downhill) - or longer if you dawdle and take photos along the way. It's very pretty! There are fairly regular buses back up the hill so we didn't find it too much of a problem getting around once we had the bus timetables to stick to. It would be very easy if you had your own car but we didn't find it a problem without one and it was lovely to stay a little way out of town.
Margaret was the perfect host. She prepared a different amazing and fresh breakfast every day. With my 3 girl friends, we stayed in the Piha family room, which is brand new, clean and extremely pleasant. Everything felt so sophisticated. We would highly recommend to stay at Margaret's.
Weekend city break for 5 friends (one doing the Bath Half Marathon) staying in Combe House. Beautiful loft room and yummy breakfast but Margaret's welcome, hospitality and helpfulness made our stay a cut above the average. She was hugely helpful working out logistics for getting to the Run, timings and providing the hearty carb breakfast that was thoroughly needed! A really great location near town and yet an amazing view from the house to countryside around. Highly recommend Combe House.
Lovely B&B, with lovely rooms and a beautiful breakfast. Margaret was a very helpful host and gave me lifts from the station. Recommended!
This is a truly wonderful place. The free range chicken eggs (they are literally free ranging around the garden), picturesque view of the countryside, very cozy atmosphere, walking distance to the Packhorse pub and wonderful place to start a country walk are some of the things that stand out most for us. We enjoyed walking to and from Bath which is great exercise after overindulgence of food and drink in Bath. We can't wait to return.
We had a very pleasant 4 night stay at Combe House. Our room and private bath were spotless and well appointed. The view over the countryside from the Manuka room is fantastic and the setting is extremely tranquil. Margaret is an excellent hostess and went out of her way for us. She's very responsive to guests' needs and preferences. One of my favorite things about Combe House was walking on the Shepards Path to nearby pubs to eat.
