This great deal on oceanview beauty at a basic level . . . met my needs. Just so you know my credibility, I couchsurfed around the globe for 14 months so I've had over 50 experiences staying in others places ... from great to terrible.
** Location **
To be honest, the location is amazing. It is a block from the beach, I spent part of the evening with the waves washing back and forth across my feet. It's close to a park where many families were enjoying themselves.
** Host **
Michael was kind, communicative and fairly responsive when I contacted him. My flight was grounded the night I was supposed to fly into LAX and he didn't mind that I'd miss a night. The next night he had to work and so left the key in a special hiding place for me. He welcomed me to anything in cupboards or fridge. It was wonderfully peaceful by myself, but at the same time I was a little disappointed that Michael never showed up to actually host me.
** Place **
The place was nicely furnished in the living room. The internet worked well. I enjoyed a couple glasses of Pomegranite juice from the fridge. There was also plenty of hot water in the shower but no towel only a hand-towel I found. There was a bed and curtains in the bedroom, but that was the extent of it. The pictures are not representative as there was no desk, no comforter and no dresser in the bedroom. To be honest, the place felt like a total bachelor lived there as I found funky smells in the fridge, the cupboards and there were items strewn about that made it feel less like a bed and breakfast and more like a last-moment-rented bachelor pad.
Overall I enjoyed my one night there but wish it would have been cleaner, more comfortable, and a little more ... hospitable.
