We had a great time at Wolle's cabins. The location is amazing. The cabins are in the middle of the jungle and between a road where you can find plenty of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes and the beach. It is simply paradise. The cabins are simple, clean and spacious and it was amazing to lie in bed and to listen to the jungle animals. Wolle and his staff are amazing, very welcoming and great hosts. We would definitely recommend to stay at Wolle's cabins and will probably do so again ourselves!
Für den Preis in Ordnung! Alles war in Ordnung
While we did not interact with the owner, Wolle, very much, the staff (volunteers) were all very wonderful and kind. The moment we arrived in Costa Rica, we called to confirm we'd be there late and they said they would certainly be there to meet us. When we arrived, we had not had the opportunity to eat dinner and had been traveling for >10 hours. After grabbing a few beers at a local bar across the street, we returned to the cabins. Lucho was so incredibly nice and cooked us all some snacks to tide us over until the morning. It was so nice and we were very grateful. The cabins themselves are very low key, nothing too exciting, but they are clean and we were given clean towels and offered new sheets after 2 days there. The neighborhood is a little far from the big town of puerto Viejo (about 4 miles), and there isn't a whole lot to do around the cabins themselves except walk around the beach. We enjoyed laying in the hammocks, sitting on the beach, and walking in the jungle. Most days, however, we did cab or bike ride into puerto Viejo. The staff was great about scheduling our shuttles to/from san Jose and helping us arrange outings. We would all recommend staying here, but maybe having a car available if you want to be able to DO more things in Costa Rica (e.g. Go to the volcanoes, travel the coasts, visit jungles/zip line, etc.). If you're looking for a place to simply relax, enjoy the beach and have wonderful, friendly hosts, then this is the place for you!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wolle's. Lucho and, really, everyone who worked at the cabins was helpful both with our stay and with recommendations about what to do and how to most enjoy or stay in this beautiful corner of Costa Rica. The nearby beach is a hidden little gem, and the cabins feel like one with the surrounding jungle.
It was as we expected. Nice cabin close to beautiful beach. We enjoyed it a lot.
A magical experience amidst the lush greenery of the Costa Rican forest. Beds were clean and comfortable, mosquito net around the bed provided some extra bug protection. Showers had amazing hot water pressure. Loved the staff, Lucio was a hands-off, chilled out host but was always available to answer questions. Path to the beach was a little muddy due to rainy season but secluded beach is rugged and stunning. A 15 minute bike ride away from Puerto Viejo main town (bring head lamps). A truly memorable experience in Costa Rica.
Well, Airbnb strikes again! The Lodge is pretty special. I just spent a week with Wolle and the crew and I couldn't have enjoyed it more.
When you stay here, you are really in the jungle. It's all around , from the trees, the ants and the constant babble of the howler monkeys. So you have to understand where you are, some really serious jungle. It was incredible, and they have a path to one of the emptiest, pristine beaches I've ever seen. That's all I'm going to say about that. I don't have the words, you'll have to see it for yourself.
Finally, Wolle and the staff. They are fantastic. Wolle is very hands off, but totally approachable and happy to help. It was a pleasure to share the beach with him when I went for my 6am swim. I can't speak highly enough of Lucco and Gerra, two the most capable, friendly and caring cabelleros I've had the pleasure to meet. Marta was wonderful freshening up the room every day.
A special hello to Ricco and Cookie,my surrogates for the trip.
All in all, I feel fortunate to have spent time at the Lodge. It may not be for everyone, but it was for me in a big way. I was sad to leave and I hope to return before the memory fades.
Be well everyone,
Wolle was a great host. The place is somewhat magical. The cabins are in the middle of the forest, with palm trees and wildlife. We saw a mother hummingbird tending to its nest of eggs. But that also meant listening to howler monkeys at 2am. So definitely bring ear plugs.
The breakfast is light, some cut fruit, toast; eggs and juice on request.
The wifi is available from the main lobby, and we were able to connect from our front porch. But don’t expect to be able to watch Netflix.
The room was in good condition. Though bugs were able to get in through some of the cracks. The beds have nets around them, which helps. Our shower had a drainage problem, the floor was slanted away from the drain, so the shower constantly had a pool of water. The water pressure was low, which made it hard to switch to the shower.
We also came during a drought, which required the water to be shut off during the night.
It was really nice to be able to walk out to the beach. The swimmable portion is about 100 feet. Only one person was out there with us.
