Erins house is nothing less than magical! The home is plopped right in the middle of one of the cutest towns in California, on a beautiful mountain river. I felt like i was in my own home throughout my stay, and her local knowledge was extremely helpful! I cant wait to return!
Nothing beats a handwritten welcome note, especially when it tells you where the best swimming hole is in town. Everything in the description was spot on.
Erin is a very nice person. I felt like staying at home.
Jen and I had a wonderful time in Downieville during or stay at Erin's rustic and pristine mountain home. As fellow mountain bikers we felt very welcome, had plenty to talk about and her home was conveniently located just off the main trail system. The bedroom was large and so was the comfy king-size bed! Kitchen privileges were much appreciated due to the limited dining options in town at the time of our stay, but only wish we had done a better job of planning ahead in regard to grocery shopping. Hope to stay at Erin's the next time we visit Downieville ... highly recommended!
Erin and her relaxing river side house helped make a last minute mtb trip happen. Clean, quiet, rustic with wifi and hot shower. Mtbiker erin was v welcoming. I pretty much booked the day I arrived so very accomodating. Recommended.
Erin´s Bike Stop is more than just perfect - I love that place!
Very Comfy King-Size Bed where I slept great after a good Mountainbike-Ride - the whole House is very nice and clean - a great Spot in awesome Downieville!
Erin is super-nice - we had good conversations and she helped me finding good trails to ride with my Mountainbike! She is a Pro-Mountainbiker so best person to ask about rides!
I will definitely come back and stay for a few days, go for Mountainbike-Rides, Hiking or just enjoy that unique place.
Erin's Bike Stop is a cozy country home that sits on the edge of the Downie River, as almost all the homes in Downieville do. But you don't need to be a mountain biker (I'm not) to enjoy a stay there. My bedroom was large with a King-size bed so comfortable that I wanted to stay there all morning. There are two windows, one of which faces the river, so the sound of moving water is ever-present. There is a bookcase full of diverse reading material, which made me feel at home. The bathroom is shared, but large and accommodating and right next to the bedroom. Downieville is a cool old mining town with lots of history--there's a few restaurants, general store, and a nice little museum downtown--literally a three-minute walk from Erin's place. The hills above and around Downieville are a mountain biking mecca, but I was able to hike several of them on foot. If you are there for the biking, Erin is a professional mountain biker so you'll get the best guide money can buy. A dip in the Downie river in late September was COOOOLD but an invigorating way to end a hike. This is just such a neat little town, a comfortable house and a gracious host--I can't wait to go back!
Erin is a lovely person and her house is lovely too. I couldn't have imagined a better place to call home while passing through Downieville. You will feel like a local staying here, if you're into that kind of thing. The room was plenty big, the bed was comfy and the pillows are just the right thickness! She even arranged for a mountain lion sighting while we were out mountain biking -- she's that good! Kidding, of course, but I wouldn't be surprised.
If you're in the area, you should stay here! We stopped over in Erin's rustic and very charming home while exploring gold rush country and we don't regret it one bit! Do not expect hotel-standard facilities in this former gold-rush town, instead expect a clean, well-loved place that feels homely from the second you enter. You'll be able to have a cup of coffee or meal to the sound of the river flowing past and fall asleep to the sound of cicadas at night. We didn't get to meet Erin but sure hope to do so in the future!
Erin's place was awesome. After a bit of confusion and difficulty on the technical side, we made our reservation with Erin. She was super helpful, flexible and friendly. The house is in a great location and was very easy to find.
I would definitely stay here again and/or recommend it to a friend.
Erin is super sweet and a fabulous guest. She left our place in perfect condition and was great about communicating her itinerary. I highly recommend her as a guest!
Erin was a wonderful guest. The house was very tidy when I returned.
Thank you!!! Hope to hostess you again sometime.
Erin and Stosh are wonderful guests! They are friendly, fun to talk to, and easy going. They were some of our first guests to use the kitchen regularly, but were never in the way and always left it cleaner than it was before. They went mountain biking with Richard a couple times and he had a lot of fun with them. We'd be happy to have them stay with us again if they are ever in town.
nice to communicate with: agreeable and cooperative. I was out of town so did not have a personal meeting, but all went well.
