My friends and I visited Windy's cottage for a weekend writing retreat. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend!
(1) Great location. You're close to the main road and minutes from everything you need, but the inside of the cottage is so quiet, you can't even tell.
(2) Unbeatable view from the dining room table. The photos don't even do it justice. If you're a city dweller like me, you might get lost looking out the window at the meadow, the river, the mountains...
(3) Plenty of space. We were a group of nine, and some of us write better in solitude. Fortunately - between the bedrooms, upstairs common room, deck, and living room - the cottage had ample room for personal writing time.
(4) Windy is a stellar host. Her house instructions were thoroughly helpful, and everything from check in to check out was clear and convenient. We even had an issue at the very end of our stay that required Windy's attention (one guest accidentally backed into the garage door!) and the way Windy responded said it all. She met us at the cottage within 30 minutes and was both professional and empathetic.
My friends and I are hoping to make this little writing retreat a biannual event, and if we return to Tahoe, we hope that it's to Windy's.
Windy was easy to communicate with and her house was clean, spacious, and unbelievably picturesque with the river in the backyard. The house comfortably sleeps many people. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Windy!
Windy was super nice and always replied quickly to all our emails. The house is wonderful - comfortable, well decorated, clean and with great views! The location is very convenient too. There you'll find everything you need and the instructions are really clear and detailed. We really recommend this house if you are going to Tahoe. Thanks, Windy!
Windy was a very accommodating host, and we really appreciated her professionalism and responsiveness. The house was charming and we loved the view of the river out back from the deck and dining area.
Great space for everyone to rest. Close by to highway and it's not too loud. Nice view from the patio. Very quick reply. There was a down time with the wifi. Overall, good place to stay. Thank you Windy...
Windy was a great host and made the booking process easy and accommodating. Her home was pleasantly spacious and the view was amazing. I would highly recommend booking especially because her home is in a prime location and lends itself to be a great vacation home with the amount of activities offered nearby. For the price and location, you won't find anything like it.
The River house is exactly what we needed for our family gathering in the South Lake Tahoe area. It was easy to find, and in a great location with a beautiful view of the river and meadow beyond from the back of the house, but conveniently located near the main road outside the front of the house. The house is walking distance from bike rentals, hiking and biking trails, and grocery shopping. It is well kept and well stocked with linens and towels. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and serving. We really appreciated the preparations that Windy had in place for us. Overall, it was a great 5 days. We highly recommend the River House!
Response from Windy:
Thank you, Linda. I hope you can come again soon!
My stay at Windy's was perfect! Very comfortable bed and adequate space. The photos and description represent it well.
We had a wonderful experience at Windy's cottage. The location is great, the view is amazing, and the hospitality is top notch. We felt like we were staying in a five star hotel. In addition, Windy was very responsive to all communications, always responding within a short period of time.
We found the cottage to be a bit scruffy and awkward to access the kitchen area from our room. The kitchen area had a lovely view to the mountains and river but the deck was noisy due to the highway being close. Enjoyed cycling on the bike paths towards Camp Richardson. Unfortunately the wi Fi that we had hoped to access was not working.
Response from Windy:
Sorry about the wifi--did you try unplugging the router, per the house instructions? I wish you'd let me know while you were here, so I could have helped. Glad you enjoyed the views.
