This is an excellent opportunity to rent a decent place to spend a long stay in Hong Kong. In the context of Hong Kong this place is really luxurious. Is priced realy competitively compared with other alternatives (the YMCA is the most obvious). The appartment is big by Hong Kong standards (which are small) and the flat is impeccable, clean, with nice furniture, everything in working order. Such a nice place is a rarity in Hong Kong so I felt really fortunate to have the opportunity to spend here three weeks. I did not have time to use the facilities of the hotel (swimming pool, playing room etc) so I cannot speak of those.
The hosts are welcoming and helpful. We did not have any problem but they made it very easy for us to collect and drop the keys. Communication was a problem because we did not speak cantonese.
The two best things of the appartment are 1) the view over the bay; and 2) the location. In relation to the view over the bay, if you are visiting Hong Kong for only a few days missing this would be a pity. I would recommend paying a bit more and have the view than missing it. From this appartment you have a good look on the bay from the living room and the smaller room. We spent many a night just contemplating the lights and cruises.
In relation to the location, Hung Hom is really central- you could walk to TST easily in about 15-20 minutes, but you are also well connected with the new territories and major attractions such as Lantau island. You also have easy access to mainland china through the MTR, should you wish to go there.
I saw reviews commenting on the problems taking the bus. We used it a few times without problems but even if you had a problem it would not be a big issue. You could walk to Hung Hom station in only ten minutes through the main entrance of the hotel (there is a walking bridge for this hotel only) and if you'd like to go to TST, it would take you ten minutes more to walk than taking the bus, but then you are walking on the pathway along the bay. We did this every night because it was wonderful. No wonder the path from the hotel to TST is full with runners, visitors and people just havign a picnic.
So, highly recommended. I am happy we found this place.
The location of the apartment is great and the view looks amazing at night. Everything went very smooth, James was easy to communicate with and always replied quickly. Wouldn't mind staying there again.
The apartment was great location and size. Would recommend for 2 people although we managed 4 people okay. Would suggest it could have been a bit cleaner but generally standard was okay. Free wifi and kids club house was excellent and easy to get laundry done. Also taxis available just outside your door.
Asunto oli sijainniltaan ja kooltaan kuvauksen mukainen. Avainten nouto hoitui joustavasti samoin palautus.
Its great unit for chilling. Nice view, good location, modern design.
I stayed in James' apartment for 2 nights, with 2 other friends. The apartment location is quite convenient. The apartment itself is comfortable enough in terms of size, though it does look much bigger and better kept in the photos. As I learned only after checking in, it's an apartment located within a hotel complex, and is really only used for this purpose, so if you are looking for a "home away from home" experience, this would not really provide you with it. It is pretty sterile and impersonal. In terms of communication, there wasn't much of it up until a couple of days before the trip. We were welcomed by a kind lady, who unfortunately didn't speak English, which was a bit of a challenge. Also, there was a confusion re. towels. Prior to arriving, we were told that towels are not provided due to hygiene (not sure I understood it fully), only to find a couple of towels in the bathroom once we arrived, that we were told we could use. If you are looking to have a full comfort and not have to bring your own towels, inquire about it before booking. We also found out that there is a free shuttle for the guests, but works on the "per/key" basis, and since we received only one key, we really couldn't use the shuttle for all three. Not a big deal, but nice to clarify in the description. Overall, it's an ok place to crash for a night if passing through Hong Kong, but I would not recommend it for longer stays.
We stayed at James’ apartment for 13 days in January. Angela was a fantastic hostess who greeted and showed us to the suite. She responded quickly to our inquires and kept in touch with us. The location of the apartment was fantastic – close to all amenities. 10 minutes walk to Whampoa Gardens. We were hoping for an unobstructed harbor view as per the pictures but the newly constructed high rise blocked half of the view.
James and his crew need to work on the cleanliness of the apartment. The condition of the apartment is NOT like the illustrated pictures. The apartment received minimal attention and it is well below standard. The place was dusty and you can barely see yourself in the mirrors (streak marks and dust everywhere). The kitchen counter was sticky and the fridge/microwave were not cleaned at all. The kitchen was bare; we found 1 pan and a kettle but no cooking or eating utensils. The bathroom was smelly and water splash and streaks all over the walls. The shower curtain was moldy. We understood that we would not receive daily cleaning service like a hotel but I expected a clean and well maintained suite upon arrival. Last thing I wanted to do is clean after a 16 hour flight. There were no cleaning supplies in the suite. We had to ask Angela to give us a broom so we can sweep the floor. We were told to bring our own towels and personal toiletries but the suite had nothing. We had to go out the next morning to buy cleaning supplies, laundry soap and utensils. We ran out of toilet paper and we had to buy that too.
Wifi was not stable. We weren't able connect sometimes and when we did, it was slow.
The hygiene and condition of the apartment must be vastly improved for us to consider using James’ apartment again or recommend it to our friends and family.
This was my first AirBNB experience and it has been great for the first leg of our trip. We could see ships sail by in the harbor while sitting on the couch in between commercials. The unit was spotless and comfortable.
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
