I had a duoble booking I offered the guest another weekend with a free night, but she didnot want it. I feel really bad , but had no choice.
Janett was pleasant but very slow to communicate, which made for a little anxiety when preparing for our trip. We never met Janett, as our key was in a lockbox attached to the front door (which was actually very convenient and totally fine w/ us). Additionally, the WiFi didn't work the whole time we were there and I didn't feel like that was a priority for Janett to fix at all since she waited so long between efforts to communicate.
Our introduction to the house was immediately questionable, in that the bricks on the front steps were an accident waiting to happen, the front room smelled strongly of cats (but there was no other evidence of cats), many of the lightbulbs (to include the front porch) were burned out, and there were several unsafe/high thresholds between rooms and at the top of the stairs. That being said, every corner was spotless and the linens were all clean, so it was clear that a professional cleaning service had been there to tidy up between guests. Although we understood that "essentials" (i.e. shampoo, toothpaste, etc.) weren't part of the deal, we were surprised that there was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms.
The neighborhood did seem a little questionable and several surrounding properties along the back alleyway look worse for the wear, but everyone we saw/met was pleasant. My husband, mother, and I went on a walk shortly after arriving--while it was still daylight--to find that, albeit a little rough around the edges, it was safer feeling than at face value. We walked through the neighborhood both day and night after that (with two children--ages 6 & 8), "Ubering" to and from anything that wasn't close enough to walk.
Overall, this was a great deal for 7 people for 2 nights and I would recommend it, but DO be prepared with all items other than linens, toilet paper, and dishwashing detergent. (We never had any reason to use the washer/dryer, so I don't know what the status of the laundry detergent was.) This property is a great place to crash for a weekend--it's not personalized at all, so you don't feel like you're staying in someone else's house.
Janett was easy to communicate with. The house is perfect for a weekend get away. It is minutes from bars and restaurants and right next to the beach. I would definitely love to come back again!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Janett's place in mid-August and had a great experience. It was our first time using airBnB and we weren't sure what to expect. Janett's place is perfectly located where you can walk to Seacrets and several other bars and restaurants. Our favorite part was how it was located across the street from a market / deli that you can walk to for your morning coffee, breakfast, and any other needs. It's on the ocean side of the strip, so you don't need to even drive to the water - you can just walk over with your things. Parking is easy and under the covered building. The apartment is located on the top floor and is pretty quiet. When you are in the living room you can hear a little noise from the street, but it's quiet in the bedroom. It's a spacious place with all of the amenities you would need. One thing to note - you do need to bring your own towels and sheets, but there were plenty of utensils, plates, etc available for use. If we came back to Ocean City we would definitely hope to stay here again!
The property was not bad essentially as advertised. Only issue was getting ahold of the owner. She does not answer calls or texts or emails.
We also paid a cleaning fee except the place wasn't cleaned when we got there we cleaned it up when we got there not a big deal but I can't get her on the phone to get my cleaning fee reimbursed. All she needs to do is answer the phone it would be cleared up in 5 minutes now I will have to lodge a formal complaint with the site.
Not cool making me go through all this.
First off, the photos truly don't do justice to this place. It's a gorgeous apartment, and the floors are entirely hardwood or tile throughout. It is a bottom floor apartment, and one side is sort of like being in a basement, but it doesn't feel that way because of the many windows on the other side of the apartment.
A few things didn't match the listing for us - there was no hot tub, even though the listing said there'd be one, and the metro was a mile and a half away, so certainly not a ten-minute walk. However, there was also a positive surprise: I wasn't expecting a gorgeous (albeit small) study, and as I worked from home this summer, it was a very welcome surprise, since I could sit at a desk and watch the lake while I worked.
The only real problems we ran into were some miscommunications - Janett handles the airbnb details on behalf of a friend who's the actual owner, so we weren't always sure whom to contact when things weren't working. But we were able to figure it out, usually by contacting both.
Place was a block away from the beach but no where near close the boardwalk. It didnt affect us too much. Its fairly quick to get to places in Ocean City.
I probaly preferred our location instead of being near the board walk because it was more centrally located.
There are no sheets, soap available.
Apt was somewhat clean but in my opinion it couldve been better. For example, sleeper sofa had a crazy amount of hair on it still. Stools were sticky. Floors looked pretty clean.
Over all it was a good experience
Everything was efficient and well organized.
Communications with Janett were fast and clear.
The house is spacious, clean and has everything needed. It had plenty of sleeping space for larger families and our our pets were allowed, which is a necessity for us.
The surrounding area might not have benefited from the gentrification yet but we didn't feel uncomfortable.
We will definitely repeat.
Janett and her friend were very friendly guests and loved facilitating my appartment to them. Communication went easy and they left the appartment in a clean state! They are welcome anytime.
Although I was out of town when Jeanett's family stayed in my place, my assistant told me that they were very friendly and lovely people. Jeanett is also an AirBnB-er whi has an incredible place in Miami Beach that I would highly recommend checking out!!
