The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
My girlfriend and I used Peter's listing when we went to Golden for a wedding in September. It was literally 1/2 the price of surrounding hotels. About a week before our arrival Pete called to inform us that construction on his house was taking longer than expected. Normally this would be the worst thing that could happen when using airbnb. However, Pete was amazing. He had already lined up an alternative place for us to stay with one of his friend's that was 5 min away (her name was Vee). The place was beautiful (we had the complete downstairs unit) and Vee was very sweet and accommodating. So, while we technically did not stay at Peter's place, I give this the highest overall rating because in the face of "cancellation" Peter still made sure to honor our agreement. He put us in a beautiful home, in the area we wanted and with a very sweet host. He also continuously checked in with us to make sure everything was running smoothly. We had a great time and the area was absolutely stunning. Highly recommend this listing.
We weren't actually able to stay with Peter, due to unexpected remodeling at his home. However, he arranged for us to stay with a good friend of his, Vinola, and she and her home were wonderful.
It was clean, comfortable, and we had plenty of privacy. Vinola was very welcoming and friendly, even though we only met once (no reason to stay inside in Golden, CO!)
I did not meet Peter, but he kept in contact with me the whole weekend. He gave us suggestions of things to do, and offered the use of his bikes or tubes for floating the river.
It all worked out well and we had a great weekend!
HOST: Peter was welcoming and polite. He offered us the use of his kitchen, laundry, bikes, and river rafting tubes. Though we didn't spend a lot of time with Peter, he was very easy to talk to and always willing to offer help and suggestions.
LOCATION: The neighborhood was within walking distance of downtown Golden, probably around a 10 minutes. Even closer was the trail-head to South Table Mountain Park, where we enjoyed a hike to the top of the mesa. Parking at the house wasn't an issue.
HOUSE: We didn't spend a lot of time at the house, as we were out and about most of the time. There are two bedrooms in the basement, one of which was occupied by another guest during our stay. Bathroom was shared. Our recommendation would be to bring your own pillow, if you're picky about that sort of thing, and the bed is on the softer side. Being in the basement, the rooms were slightly dark, but our room did offer one large and one small window. The furnishings were minimal and not new or updated. Overall, it felt very much like staying at a friend's house. That said, don't expect a B&B experience.
I had a wonderful stay with Peter! I was pretty busy, heading out early in the morning, and getting back late, but Peter was very helpful and checked in via text how things were going. Room was lovely with a semi private bathroom and entrance. I would definitely recommend Peter for anybody wanting to visit Golden. Also, only 10-20 minutes walk from downtown, which was great since I didn't rent a car.
Peter and Lucas are extraordinary and dedicated hosts. They put all themselves in making the guests feel welcomed. They provide all the desired goods and much more. If you are into biking and hiking, then that's the right place to be. Pete and Luke are truly experts in all that sort of things and are happy to share their experience and give valuable advices.
The house is comfortable and big. You can have your own privacy (guests have their own bathroom and living room w/ fridge) and/or or engage in social chats. You have two supermarkets and a few dining places (Chinese and Mexican) within 5-10' walking.
Golden itself is a hidden gem: lovely, authentic and warm. You can easily walk to the Downtown, stroll along the streets, have fun and enjoy the exceptional microbreweries.
I strongly recommend this place to all future guests.
While not specifically noted, I had guessed the room was in the basement. However I did not expect the floor to be without a carpet; it was a bare concrete floor that, while painted, the paint had chipped off in a number of places. The dust on the night-table lamp and closet shelf made me fear for clean the floor might not be. There was no mattress pad on the bed. There was no water glass (nor water bottle) in the bedroom nor bathroom. There was no Kleenex provided in either the room nor in the separate, shared bathroom. There was no bureau for clothes in the bedroom (I had to use the two small drawers in the night-table. There was no bath mat (only a small hooked rug that I doubted had been washed in a long time). Toilet paper was very thin and cheap. No washcloth nor hand-towel was provided. On a day when the temperature reached 100 F., the air conditioning was not turned on - even after I made a comment about it. There was no key provided for the house, nor the bedroom.
And, surprisingly, there was no breakfast provided. I was told I could make my own coffee or tea.
It's a nice place to stay with convenient location. I didn't get to interact with the hosts much because of my tight schedule, but they are definitely helpful when I need something from them. One of their dogs is a little frightening though.
Room was exactly as advertised. Great area, clean space and Peter was very hospitable.
Would recommend and stay again.
Peter was a great host. He let me drop my bags off early because my flight landed at 7am! His home is fantastic...I walked everywhere right from the back door.
Peter was great to have around. He was private but very nice to talk with when we came by each other. He was interested in hiking and dirt biking and we talked about various trails for him to enjoy.
Peter is a energetic, kind, and respected my home well. We did not cross paths much as I worked all weekend and he was busy with family but it was nice to offer my space to him while he ventured around in the city.
Pete was an excellent guest! Easy to coordinate with, helpful around the house, and took time to pay attention to the pets. I didn't spend too much time chatting, but when we had a chance to talk, I enjoyed the conversation. Would have as a guest again, 100%.
Peter is great! He is really friendly and I enjoyed meeting and talking with him. He is welcome back anytime!
Peter is polite, clean, well-traveled and fun to talk to! He is welcome back to The Center of The Kauai Universe anytime.

Peter and his nephew were a very nice people, they behave good very educated, Honest, the only thing missing was a bit more of communication, for this to work to a perfection, I recommend them anywhere they go.
