Originally from Europe, I spent more than a decade in Los Angeles. This little retreat is a gem that brought me a lot of peace, and I'm happy to share it with kind and respectful visitors, as it makes your stay in the city of Angels truly nice.
I stayed at this adorable and cozy retreat for a few days right before Thanksgiving. I only wish the mornings had been just a little warmer so that I could have had my coffee out in the peaceful and private little garden. I was happy to have the gas heater to take the chill out of the air.
It was fun to climb up to sleep up in the comfortable, berth-style alcove bed. The bathroom was well-arranged and well-appointed, with a good shower, and plenty of shelf space for travelers' toiletries.
I brought my iPad and bluetooth speaker and was able to listen to music and radio via wi-fi --- perfect for me, since I'm not a TV person anyway.
The cottage is on a very quiet one-way street, with plenty of parking, and Astrid provided a parking permit for my stay.
What I also enjoyed was being able to walk easily into the center of Culver City and its great shops and restaurants, and to the very nice Trader Joe less than 1/2 mile away.
To top it all off, Astrid is a helpful, responsive and charming host. The Artist's Retreat offers a welcome little home away from home for travelers.
Astrid's place is like an Oasis. It's the second time that I'm staying there, and I appreciate this place even more. Cleverly designed, cosy and quiet. Astrid has been wonderful as usual, communicative and making sure that I had everything I needed. My plane arrived late, it was 1AM, I was starving, when I arrived at the apartment, there was a salad, bread, cheese, a nice bottle of wine and chocolate truffles waiting for me :-)
Thanks Astrid for making my stay, quick, easy and uncomplicated. The apartment was well equipped and the location conveniently close to down town Culver City.
Great artist's retreat for two indeed, with a beautiful garden to boot! Fantastic location - short walk to Culver City's attractions - and Astrid was welcoming and flexible, which was greatly appreciated after a long day traveling.
I stayed in this charming little bungalow for a month while looking for a place to live in Los Angeles. The location in Downtown Culver City is fantastic! There are so many shops and restaurants within walking distance (which is a luxury in Los Angles). The bungalow is a perfect size for two and has everything you could need - with the bonus of having an amazingly beautiful and completely private garden for you eat your meals in and have coffee while enjoying the LA sun. Astrid is a wonderful host and I highly recommend staying here!!
Astrid was a fantastic host and provided a great little get away that was perfect for my needs. Easy walk to downtown Culver City just enhanced the experience.
Would highly recommend Astrid's retreat if you plan on spending time in Culver City!
Astrid place was cute comfortable in the right location (website hidden) is tiny but everything has its place perfect for two.
Astrid's place exceeded my expectations and made my stay in Culver City/LA especially comfortable. It's a clean, breezy, sunny space and the garden is an amazing bonus. Astrid was also very communicative and easy going. I would definitely stay there again.
I loved Astrid's place, it is a perfect start to discover LA. Nicely welcomed by the host after the long trip, no problems till the end of a stay. I highly recommend it!
Amazing place on quiet residential street. Astrid was great and very helpful. Loved the private garden.
