Unfortunately Clair had absurd expectations and lashed out in a menacing manner - I would not want her back at my home.
1 - Claire registered as a single guest - unknowingly, she brought her sister along. I provided a closet full of towels - 13 to be exact, but that was not enough for Claire, who felt entitled to fresh linen and towels on a daily basis. While 5 star, white glove treatment is always fun, this is my home, not a Park Avenue Hotel. I make it clear that there are no laundry facilities at my house, but there are numerous laundromats near by.
2 - I don't understand the criticism of the patches on the bedroom doors - I had two children who rough-housed here for many years and did some damage that I - a single mother - repaired on my own. These are minor cosmetic issues and do not affect the quality of the bedroom or the door - what a critical woman! yes, some of my furniture is a bit worn around the edges (there are no holes), but it is comfortable and inviting.
3 - Half of one closet in one bedroom is filled with boxes - the other half is available for hanging clothes. One bedroom closet is completely empty. The upstairs bedroom had a coat/dress rack on wheels - was this person thinking of moving in or staying for a few days?
4 - The TV set in the living room is an older style set - the picture is perfect (like they used to make them) - and can be seen in the pictures I provide on my ad - and yes, I only have basic cable - similar to numerous places I've stayed. This guest was just a wretched person. The living room fan was not filthy - and there is a large, interior air conditioner in that room, with AC, dehumidifier and fan.
5 - We make it clear that the downstairs bedrooms are twin beds - these were very expensive mattresses - I don't know what Claire expected me to do when she complained about them - was I supposed to order news beds? As I told her, I have slept grown men in those beds without a complaint. Comfort is subjective, but I've never had a complaint until Claire arrived.
6 - The first night, Claire arrived at 11:30 PM - again, she must've been expecting a hotel experience, because I did not sit and await her arrival. I'm sorry if she had to turn on an air conditioner and allow the room to cool, but I don't leave air conditioning going in an empty house and I was not on premises for her arrival.
7 - I don't know what Claire means by delicate plumbing - and I'm not sure I want to think about it. I've never had a problem with the upstairs plumbing - nor have my guests. As to the Wi-Fi - I'm sorry if Claire doesn't know how to use her computer - and there are numerous three prong outlets in my home.
Sorry about the WiFi not being up during our brutal snowy winter week. But we do have Cable Tv, which was up and before I left I made sure was working. I'm sorry it's not as many channels as your probably used to in Manhattan. But thank you for staying.
