Giulio's place is right across a path from the water in a remote area of town. The room is clean, comfortable, and it's a small place so there's plenty of privacy. It even has a nice restaurant. Recommend.
We stayed here two nights and it was exactly what we expected. Everyone who worked there was kind and welcoming and helped us whenever we needed it. The food at the restaurant was great too! I would definitely stay there again.
It is a nice place to stay. The restaurant is amazing, we ate every evening there. Guilio it self was really kind, he also lend us his kaiak:-)
Room was simple but clean. It was 97 and humid outside so the little air conditioner worked hard but took the edge off. Host was nice and helped answer questions when we had them. Spoke great English. The window looked out onto a "swamp". About a 7-10 minute walk to the main street with a few simple restaurants and grocery store. Main pier where tour boats departed from was just down the street about a two minute walk. Nice atmosphere at the waterside tables, romantic by candlelight. Only restaurant that had cobblestones in front of it.
Giulio and his family were very friendly and accommodating. His wife, Cecilia, made us feel like almost a part of the family. The music from a nearby bar was very loud and made it hard to sleep but I know the owners cannot control this. Overall it was a very pleasant place to stay across from the beach in Puerto Jimenez.
As mentioned in a previous comment, this accommodation is more suitable for backpackers on a budget. If there's one place in Costa Rica where you should spend the extra money for accommodations, it is definitely in Puerto Jimenez. Spend the extra money. We normally do not like to put negative comments, however you should know that the rooms are behind a restaurant (down a dark and crowded hallway) and are noisy and lack intimacy. Please note that since the restaurant is built on a swamp and there's no window or screen in the bathroom, you can expect some creepy crawlers. We did not feel that the ad reflected reality and we were disappointed. The only positive we were able to find is that the host is kind.
The room was ok, spacy and clean.
Room service was nonexistent, but we only stayed for 3 days, so we could live with that.
Breakfast was a bit on the lean side, with 2 slices of toast per guest and a small cup of jam.
The pizza was great, though!
We were made very welcome by our hosts. The room was nice and located inside the restaurant so there was no outside noise. We enjoyed toast, coffee, and juice every morning out under the canopy. Our host helped arrange a tour and guide for us to Corcovado Park; while we didn't see much wildlife-our guide shared his vast knowledge of the plants and park with us. The food in the restaurant was good, especially the pizza! There was a very nice swim beach located just a 5 minute walk away and the boat taxi pier to Gulfito was about a 10 minute walk. We would stay here again.
The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We (german couple) stayed there for 3 nights. I can recommend the B&B as a convenient starting point for travelling into Corcovado Park- although the building is about 10 minutes walk away from downtown Jiménez. Beautifully situated at the sea, where you can have breakfast. The pictures which show the rooms are a little bit sugarcoated, but the room is clean and OK- although the windows do not really look on to the sea. Extra service: we got 2 kayaks from Giulio for free and had a great tour to some lonely beaches.
