I'll be traveling to France and Belgium in June with my 2 older sisters and my niece. At the end of June I will then go to Sweden for a swing dance camp. Not too many people know this, but the world's largest swing dance event happens not in the USA but in a small village called Herrang in Sweden! Very strange.
My family came from Hong Kong when we were kids and have been living in California since. I work as a software engineer and live in San Francisco.
I have been to 60 countries and my favorite is India. The people are so outgoing and I feel like I can see so much of their lives out in the open. For example if you go to Varanasi you will see the burning ghats where they have human cremation openly. In the river Ganges next to the ghats the Hindu pilgrims bathe. Also the festivals are very colorful and always happening.
My recent favorite books are A Visit from the Goon Squad, Cloud Atlas, Cold Mountain. I read mainly literature. Music-wise I like indie rock and jazz. As for food, I'm a lot less picky. I like everything!
When I travel I like to set my own itinerary. I don't like to join a tour group. I much rather get lost and talk to strangers and find my way and explore. Some of my best travel memories are from getting completely lost, like in Egypt, then meeting friendly strangers. Each time I travel I'm reminded that most people everywhere are good and generous.
