I am recently retired from teaching American History at the high school level. I was a good teacher and enjoyed my work. That 30 years went by quickly and now it's time for adventure and exploration. I love the mountains. I own a funky cabin in the Sierra where I spend a lot of time. I recently purchased a teardrop trailer which I pull behind my Subaru, but now realize I want a larger vehicle to pull a larger trailer.
I was pretty much a single mom to my daughter who is now a science teacher and has a husband and children of her own. They live nearby and we see each other regularly.
I love to read, hike, and garden, but not all at the same time! I enjoy sipping good wines and engaging in stimulating conversation. I like learning the history of places I visit.
Being current on the events that affect us locally, nationally and internationally is important to me. You will find me "moderate" on the political spectrum. I believe that compromise is necessary in all relationships. Listening to and reading from various viewpoints is essential in attempting to make sense of the political landscape.
I am considerate of others. Independent describes me too. While I enjoy company, I am quite fine to strike out on my own.
It appears to me that we should maintain a sense of humor, and be able to laugh at our selves. "Life is to important to take seriously" is written on one of the magnets on my fridge. Others are "Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History", "Make Love, not War", and "Wine-How Classy People Get Trashed". Laughter is great!
