I’m a 25 year old graduate student who has lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the past two years. I grew up in Loretto, Ontario and headed off to school on the east coast, finding my way from Fredericton, New Brunswick (where I completed my undergraduate) to Halifax, with a quick stopover back home. I love travelling and have the fortune to be in a program (international development studies) that requires it often. I'm also a copy editor/editorial assistant for an academic journal.
My favourite place I have ever travelled to is Lago de Atitlan. It is a beautiful lake in the highlands of Guatemala that I had the chance to visit while volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. I began my mornings kayaking on this volcanic lake that has three other volcanoes on its southern flank. There were Mayan towns built into the steep escarpments, and the landscape was a deep, lush green. It was AMAZING. My other favourite travel destination is home to Loretto, although the only attraction of that small rural town is the seedy Loretto Inn. But Mom and Dad hugs at the airport are the best, plus there are Grandma’s chocolate chip cookies.
I don’t get much free time because of grad school and work, but when I’m procrastinating I can usually be found strolling through Point Pleasant Park, watching movies or curled up with tea and a book for fun.
I'd love to stay at your place while on my travels and rest assured that I make a great guest!
