Andreas
Andreas was a wonderful host and extremely helpful in providing us with advice on what to see in Rio and how to get there. The Santa Teresa neighborhood is charming and we greatly enjoyed staying here. It is about a 15 minute walk to Gloria, where one can take the metro or find a cab. The area is close to Lapa. By cab, the neighborhood is about 15 minutes from Copacabana and 20 minutes from Ipanema.

As a first time AirBnB user and Rio traveler, the bar has been set very high. I can not say enough good about Andreas and his oasis. He has mastered the fine art of being a gracious and welcoming yet unobtrusive host. The apt itself is so charming with wonderful artistic touches that add to the romanticism of the city. Enjoying evening dinners and morning coffees on the terrace was as much a joy as exploring the beautiful city itself. Though remote, the Santa Teresa neighborhood quickly became my favorite and I'm positive that Andreas and his beautiful home had everything to do with it. Through him, my boyfriend and I got to know the city in a way we never would have as mere tourists and the experience made us both positive that we would be back (and hopefully sooner than later).
We stayed at Andreas (Mother in Laws) place for 24 days over Carnival 2014. We already knew Santa Teresa and always recommend it as the best district of Rio to stay in. It is a little difficult to get to other parts of the city but if you don't mind a little walking and the odd death ride on the buses (6 and 7) the advantages outweigh the difficulties. As it is on a hill Santa Teresa tends to be a little cooler than lower areas, the views are great and the whole area has a great atmosphere. We strongly recommend all the Santa Teresa Blocos at Carnival. Away from the Santa Teresa Blocos check our Sargenta Pimenta (Flamengo Park) , Quizombo (Lapa) and Cordao Boitata who practice at Prazeres (local Community)
The apartment - was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the bedroom with 2 windows a through breeze was always possible when hot with great views across to the great snorer (Parc de Tijuca). Comfortable, softish bed (it is important) Nice, cool sitting room. Shower and kitchens small buthad all you need so functional. Andreas was always friendly, available and fixed the few minor problems that arose. He was good company and told interesting stories relating to Rio and the area. The small balcony was a nice place to have meals and the music from the surrounding area was varied and interesting. Hearing the Incredible String Band being played one morning was surreal. Despite it being carnival the noise never became unbearable. Local shops and bars provide all you need.
We can recommend this accommodation and would seriously consider using it again .
We spent five fantastic days in the small imperial castle. This place are amazing with creative owner`s style. Located on the hill with fantastic view over the Rio.
Even if you are not fancy walker, we will suggest to walk up, down and criss cross over Santa Teresa, it is absolutely gorgeous place.
Andreas is very welcoming, friendly, honest, helpful and simple a best host. If you have any question, need advice or help you can ask him anything. You can definitely rely on him!!!
You will love the small imperial castle, if you are person with adventure spirit.
Million Thanks to Andreas :)
Andreas has a nice apartment in a quiet area. It is also easy to reach the center and all the sightseeing things.
You have an awesome view of Rio and Andreas is a really friendly & helpful person.
