A couple of years ago I (Mimi) lost my husband Steve and found my myself alone in a big house. The kids all love to visit when they can so occasionally the house is bustling with activity. We were a military family before Steve retired and landed in this beautiful house in Washington, so it was important to the kids and I that we could all still have this place to stay connected to and rooted in. That is when I first started brainstorming ways to make the house more useful while still being able to keep it. With the help of my daughter Liz, I began transforming the house and garden into a peaceful retreat. Earlier this year I remarried! A close neighbor and friend found himself in a similar situation, loosing his wife. So to further perfect the story of this vacation rental, I had a new place to live while still being able to offer this house for others to use. My kids like spending time at the old homestead when there is time in the schedule. It's a win win, they get to come home to enjoy the house they grew up in and now others can use it too.
