The rental agent was very flexible and accommodating considering we ran into traffic on I-65 and forgot about the time difference. The unit was welcoming, clean and comfortable for the three of us. The wine and cookies were a nice treat. The washer and dryer were a pleasant surprise as well. We walked to the riverfront. It was a little over 2 miles but the neighborhood is beautiful and makes the walk very pleasant. It was great to have a small convenience store close by for little incidentials as well. All in all, would like to stay again next time we're in Louisville. Perfect girls weekend!
I stayed here for a long weekend. Louisville is a lovely town and this place is really centrally located to get to just about everything. It was clean and well maintained and I really liked that Jon works with a realty company to make sure there is a 24 hour maintenance line to call if you have any problems. Would definitely stay there again.
We had a great stay at the Racing Silks Carriage House! It had a warm, welcoming feel and there was plenty of space for all 4 of us who stayed there. Decorated in antique Derby memorabilia, the house has a very authentic Louisville flair! The host was very friendly easy to communicate with prior to arrival, and met us at the house to give us a tour and some history of the property. The carriage house is on a large lot with a big yard, and located in Old Louisville, which is a lovely neighborhood. The house is conveniently located, situated close to highways, downtown, and Bardstown Road (lots of good restaurants there!). Also, there is a lot for off-street parking, so finding a spot was never an issue. This was my first Airbnb experience, and I'm already hooked! I'd definitely recommend this listing to family and friends travelling to Louisville.
My friends and I loved staying at the Carriage House. The location is absolutely perfect - no more than 10 minutes to fun downtown and Bardstown Road. John was a great host. He was flexible with check in and check out and very accommodating, even leaving a few snacks and wine! The rooms were comfortable, full of character, and fit our group of 6 perfectly. I highly recommend staying here when you visit Louisville!
This house was definitely adequate for my husband, son and I to stay for 5 days. The Derby/horse racing memorabilia made for a fun atmosphere and there were plenty of great amenities including washer/dryer, dishwasher, full kitchen, plenty of linens and dishes, easy to access wifi and cable television, and water, juice, bananas, and wine left for us to enjoy. The neighborhood was nice and I felt safe and comfortable walking with my 3 year old down the street to the little deli 5 blocks away or the park 3 blocks away. It was also in a convenient location and, despite quite a bit of construction and traffic, we could get anywhere in the city in about 15 minutes. The house itself was not very noise proof with squeaky wood floors that would wake my son up if one of us walked down the hall. There are quite a few steps to get up into the living area. Bathrooms were down the hall from the bedrooms, not real convenient. The bathtub did not stop up completely making it difficult to bathe my 3 year old. There was a lot of air traffic which wasn't noted in any of the reviews I read, especially early in the week, monday and tuesday making it somewhat difficult to sleep. There was also some other city noises - cars, sirens, etc., but not as much as you would expect being so close to an interstate and in the middle of old Louisville. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience. John was very pleasant, greeted us when we arrived and offered to help us bring stuff in. Sharon, the property manager, was very promptly responsive to calls and questions. I would definitely recommend it for parties with just adults or anyone with older children, especially anyone into horse racing. Not so great for small children or people with difficulties with steps.
The neighborhood is beautiful and located near downtown. The blocks are long and it would be a good 1 hour walk to get downtown. Great way to exercise if you have time. It is a 10 minute car ride to downtown. A bottle of wine and cookies were on the coffee table when I arrived. A nice (website hidden) and Wi-Fi included.
If you have mobility issues, this is not a good place to stay. You have to navigate very steep, spiral, narrow stairs to get downstairs to the bedroom. The kitchen contained everything needed to cook if you want.
Bring earplugs for sleeping at night. The venting system is pretty old and loud and facing the bed. Also, the neighborhood seems to be in the pathway of planes landing at the airport at night.
A convenient and lifesaving parking space comes with the apartment. No need to drive around late at night looking for street parking
John and Sharon were available, helpful and friendly. Carriage house was amazing. Decorated in authentic Louisville and Derby memorabilia and antiques. This is a vintage space but well appointed. So much character. Very large space, plenty of hot water for shower. Nice fluffy towels. Bed very comfortable. Enjoyed the bottle of wine and cookies host provided. WiFi easily connected with high speed. If warmer and dryer, would have loved hanging out in the yard. Beautiful up & coming neighborhood great for walking. Grocery, bar and pizza just around the corner. Ermin's bakery perfect for brekkie or lunch. Why would you ever stay at a hotel downtown when The Racing Silks is available?
This house is truly a "never judge a book by it's cover" house! The outside of the house is nothing spectacular and having to go through the alley in the back to get to it was a little worrisome at first. However, once inside the house it was absolutely PERFECT for the six of us staying there! We were greeted with two bottles of wine, water, and cookies! A welcoming touch! The beds were SO COMFY and the kitchen and living room were GREAT group hangout spots! We had everything we needed inside the house-fully stocked linen, cookware, and toiletries. The neighborhood was three miles or less from anywhere we went! Perfect and safe location. It was nice having a car and we did use uber! (about $5-$8 to anywhere we went!) Would recommend the highlands/4th street for food and entertainment. Would recommend this house for a mid to large size group. John/Sharon were very accommodating and helpful! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
When we arrived, the house smelled very clean and appeared to be. The host left us two bottles of wine and local cookies with a note. Very nice touch. When we put our things into one of the rooms however, I noticed a significant amount of pet hair on the comforter and sheets. We called our contact because I'm sensitive to pet hair. They were very apologetic and came right over to take care of it. They were out of extra sets of bedding so they went as far as to go to the store and buy a whole new bedding set for us. Quite accommodating! The house is very historical and charming. Everything we needed for the weekend.
There was five of us in our group and the house was very adequate for the size of the group. The beds were just as listed and the bedrooms were very spacious. The kitchen was very well supplied. I have stayed in several rental condos that were not as well stocked. The house is old, so don't expect new doors, windows, etc. I liked it. It gave the place a lot of character and charm. I was worried that it would have a strong "old house" smell, but it was the opposite. Everything was very clean. We felt very safe in the house and in the neighborhood. We came back to the house at night, driving through the local streets. Nothing seemed unsafe. Everything was quiet. The yard was large enough for the younger ones with us to play a little football before sundown. John was very polite and available. We plan to stay at the racing silks again in the future.
