This house is truly a "never judge a book by it's cover" house! The outside of the house is nothing spectacular and having to go through the alley in the back to get to it was a little worrisome at first. However, once inside the house it was absolutely PERFECT for the six of us staying there! We were greeted with two bottles of wine, water, and cookies! A welcoming touch! The beds were SO COMFY and the kitchen and living room were GREAT group hangout spots! We had everything we needed inside the house-fully stocked linen, cookware, and toiletries. The neighborhood was three miles or less from anywhere we went! Perfect and safe location. It was nice having a car and we did use uber! (about $5-$8 to anywhere we went!) Would recommend the highlands/4th street for food and entertainment. Would recommend this house for a mid to large size group. John/Sharon were very accommodating and helpful! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
When we arrived, the house smelled very clean and appeared to be. The host left us two bottles of wine and local cookies with a note. Very nice touch. When we put our things into one of the rooms however, I noticed a significant amount of pet hair on the comforter and sheets. We called our contact because I'm sensitive to pet hair. They were very apologetic and came right over to take care of it. They were out of extra sets of bedding so they went as far as to go to the store and buy a whole new bedding set for us. Quite accommodating! The house is very historical and charming. Everything we needed for the weekend.
There was five of us in our group and the house was very adequate for the size of the group. The beds were just as listed and the bedrooms were very spacious. The kitchen was very well supplied. I have stayed in several rental condos that were not as well stocked. The house is old, so don't expect new doors, windows, etc. I liked it. It gave the place a lot of character and charm. I was worried that it would have a strong "old house" smell, but it was the opposite. Everything was very clean. We felt very safe in the house and in the neighborhood. We came back to the house at night, driving through the local streets. Nothing seemed unsafe. Everything was quiet. The yard was large enough for the younger ones with us to play a little football before sundown. John was very polite and available. We plan to stay at the racing silks again in the future.
John's place is great. I wish I had more reasons to visit Louisville because I would absolutely stay here again. His place is exactly as described. I attended a conference at Univ. of Louisville so the location was perfect. Neighborhood is safe. My husband was unable to join me on the trip so I had the whole place to myself. I easily could have had 4-5 other people with me!
John was a fantastic host. He came and picked me up at the airport! And then showed me around the neighborhood--a lovely historic area. Highly, highly recommend staying here.
The home was lovely! We were able to walk to a few local joints. The AC worked well, the kitchen was stocked with spices and dishes, the beds were like new, and the water pressure was quite good. Our host was available to answer questions by phone and our late arrival time was accommodated without any complaints. I would love to stay here again if I return to Louisville.
When we arrived there was a very nice note telling us to enjoy the bottle of wine there, cookies and bottled water. The carriage house was really spacious and had everything we needed. When we had questions the realtor, Sharon was quick to respond and help. She also suggested a few places for us to go, which was helpful! We had a really great time and would stay here again!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Racing Silks Carriage House. It was perfect for 5 of us staying from out of town for a wedding. Treats and wine were on the kitchen table to greet us! Checking in and out was very easy and there was plenty of parking for all 3 of our cars. We had ample room to spread out and hang out and the beds are very comfortable, much better than most hotel beds. The Carriage House has a ton of racing decorations that were fun. It was really a great place with great energy.
This carriage house was absolutely charming and amazing. My friend and I arrived very late. I thought even while it was very dark out, the neighborhood seemed very safe. I saw a couple biking outside and it just seemed like a nice street with character. I was unclear that the carriage house was a seperate house behind the address given, but the person in charge was quick to set me straight over the phone even though it was very late. Upon walking up the steps of the house, I was amazed but the size and character of the house. I was told it used to be an old stable renovated into a house. It was beautiful. Even more impressive was the hospitality. The host put out fruit, bottled water and some other goodies for the stay. On Saturday we had a small dinner party for some friends and there was plenty of room for them to sit as well as room to cook and serve the food. I wouldn't think twice about not renting this propert again. Two thumbs way up.
Everything was great. John was quick to respond, as was Sharon, the Realtor. She made herself available to answer questions and help while we were there. She was also kind enough to have two bottles of wine and some snacks waiting for us when we arrived. The carriage house itself was great. Perfect space for three couples. Great location in old Louisville, 6 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes to most downtown spots. If we find ourselves back in town, we will definitely stay here again .
Though we have been Air B&B hosts for some time, this was our first time as guests and what a perfect entry! Our hosts were in contact with us giving specific check in instructions. There was a bottle of wine, cakes and gifts for our children left on the kitchen table. The space is just perfect. There were some technical problems with the house that were handled beautifully and in a way that left no blemish on our stay. Book this home with total confidence!
