I agree with all the positive reviews about the Studio apartment. I stayed there for a week with three boys aged 10 to 14 and we had a great stay. The WIFI and computer in the apartment worked well which is important if you have kids that age. It was also important for me to get work done in the evenings. If you're looking for an authentic Paris neighbourhood experience then it's a great place to stay.
Odd but cute little family apartment under the roofs of Paris 14e, steps from rue Daguerre, Denfert-Rochereau and the Catacombes.
I lived in Paris for 10 years and know the city well. However, I was not familiar with this neighborhood. Rue Daguerre has all the markets, supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants etc you can imagine. Denfert Rochereau is on the fast and reliable RER B, which means that you will be close to everything in Paris.
The apartment itself is on the 7th floor, accessible through a small (2 person max) old-school elevator which unfortunately was often busy and was even out of service for a whole night and half a day. Great view of the roofs of Paris. The apartment can get quite hot in summer in the afternoon with no curtains to escape from the sun.
The configuration of the apartment is a little odd, but ok for a family with kids. A kid's bedroom (1 bed) connected to another kids's bedroom (2 small beds with plenty of toys). Plus a living room with a bed corner on the floor. I didn't mind sleeping on a mattress on the floor, but my main issue was with the bathroom being only accessible by entering the kids' bathroom.A small kitchen with basic cooking equipment - not really suitable for doing gourmet cooking, but enough to make pasta or re-heat some of the great food you can buy down the street in Daguerre.
The communication with the owner Olivier went very well. Instructions for check in/out were very clear, and the apartment was very clean with everything working.
We had a great stay in this apartment. We are a family of 5 and everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in and ample room for dining. The kitchen was well equipped and Olivier was very thoughtful in providing us with a fresh baguette, a bottle of wine and cereal for the kids on arrival. We loved being on the 7th floor with the balconies and views. The location is convenient and central with the metro a short walk from the apartment. There is a great choice for cafes, restaurants and shops. Olivier was very easy to communicate with and even though we didn't have the pleasure of meeting him, he kept in contact with emails and mobile messages :))
Our stay aT ARTIST TUDIO IDEAL FO FAMILIES was a real success.First of all we found Olivier Mevel a welcoming host.He came to meet us at Denferrt-Rochereau when we arrived from CDG airport by RER,led us to his apartment, showed us around and went away having left us his phone number in case we had a problem.
We found the apartment very pleasant, full of light coming from a glass panel in the roof. The accommodation was adequate for our party of 5 people. I,the grand mother, had a room of my (website hidden) son and his wife had a double bed in a recess off the living room and the children (8 and 3 ) had a twin bed-room full of toys which kept them busy (email hidden)e kitchen with its big fridge freezer ,two very efficient hotplates and microwave was (email hidden)e bathroom with its bath and good shower suited (website hidden) also had a washing machine in working order which we used. There was a clothes horse in the flat but we preferred using the very efficient dryer of the laundrette at the foot of the building.
We liked the area. The street in a residential area was very quiet .The front to each building with its individual carvings was worth looking at.Two streets away was the amazing rue Daguerre with its many restaurants, creperies and fascinating food shops where you could buy fresh products.
The transports to the centre of Paris were excellent.A 5 minutes walk took you to the metro and buses .The Luxembourg garden and Montparnasse were within walking distance if you liked walking. The RER took you straight to the airport.
We all thought we would gladly go back to Olivier's flat.
We had a lovely stay in Olivier's apartment. The location is perfect - not too far from the centre of the city, and with fantastic food shops just a street away. The apartment is comfortable, light, and very easy for families.
Olivier is a welcoming and kind host, and we would recommend his apartment highly.
My wife, 2 daughters (ages 3 and 1), and I had an amazing time staying at Olivier's apartment for 6 nights. Our daughters each had their own room with more toys then they knew what to do with. The wi-fi was great and we were able to watch movies on Olivier's Mac. The location was great, 2 blocks from the Denfert Rochereau metro station which we used daily. We were able to go anywhere around Paris on the metro, from Disneyland, to Versailles, to Charles de Gaulle airport and everywhere in between. There are plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, etc. within a 5 min. walk of the apartment. The size of the apartment was perfect for a family of 4 and the kitchen came equipped with everything a family would need to cook themselves. Olivier was a great host and kept in contact throughout our stay helping us with anything we needed. I would definitely recommend this apartment to any family with young children. The apartment kept our kids busy so my wife and I could enjoy our vacation as well.
Our family of 4 really enjoyed our 6-night stay at Olivier's terrific flat in the 14th and would definitely try to return there next time we come to Paris. Olivier was a great host - easy to communicate with, very pleasant, and provided us with a great breakfast for our first day there. The area is delightful - the road where the flat is situated is safe and quiet; the Rue Daguerre nearby is a wonderful gourmet market street to source all sorts of delicious food; both Metro and RER stations are very close and put you in easy reach of all Paris (including direct train to both airports). We agree that - as advertised - the flat itself is ideal for families. Our kids were very comfortable among the posters/books/toys in the flat, we loved the rooftop views, and there is a great selection of books to browse through... Thank you Olivier!
This apartment was perfect for our stay -3 adults and one child. It has all the amenities and comforts and at a fantastic location. We especially loved the brighness and view of the Paris rooftops. Thanks to Olivier for helping us to get settled and being available during our stay to answer any quick questions.
Very good experience, highly recomended. The apartment is very well located, with easy transport to nerly everywhere, very confortable, and good for kids.
Olivier est sympathique, échanges cordiaux, maison impeccable, je recommande bien sur vivement...
Olivier was a great airbnb guest. He was friendly and communicative. The apartment was left in great condition. He is welcome back!
