Michael made us feel very welcome. He had a lot of information about the area and the apartment. We were very comfortable in the apartment. The fold-out bed was great for our kids - would not be so great for heavier adults. The other bed was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved sipping coffee and wine on the back porch and garden! The neighborhood is interesting - a mix of residential with pockets of commercial. Ninth Street has a ton of wonderful eateries, and there is a market only 2 blocks away for cooking at Michael's house. The transit is closeby with the N-Judah line. We could connect to anywhere in the city. It was quiet and comfortable
Our stay at Michael and Polina's was very nice. As mentioned in other feedback Golden Gate Park is in walking distance as is the N line to downtown. The sleeping room has a double bed and the living room a sleeper sofa. The kitchen was equipped with basics. For our family of 4 this worked out. Michael was very kind and organized a very smooth checkin and checkout process. Thank you.
Michael greeted us at the door and kindly showed us through the suite, making sure to explain all the details of our stay and the "rules of the house." He even provided maps of the area and city, and pointed out how to get to places we needed to go.
The listing is as described on the Airbnb site. It has an elegant, homey appeal and a great kitchen to enable you to fuel up in the morning before heading out to tour the city. The neighborhood is quiet and very close to public transportation (and an easy ride into the city)- a huge plus! The pull-out bed is a bit uncomfortable to sleep on, but I think that is pretty normal for pull-out beds. :) Other than that, everything was just great!
I would definitely recommend this listing to folks wishing to stay in San Francisco!
This home was amazing. I stayed there with my husband and his mother and we had a really wonderful time. It's spacious, homey, comfortable, interesting, and in a beautiful quiet neighborhood close to great restaurants and cafes. It feels very private and is a great place to stay. We used public transportation (N Judah) to get there and back, and didn't feel we needed a car. It was great to get take-out and/or buy groceries and eat in the kitchen, which has cutlery, plates, dishes, etc. The backyard is very sweet and the porch is a nice place to relax. Wi-fi was excellent. Michael was extremely communicative and helpful and thoughtful and thorough, and was very responsive to our questions. The bedroom bed is very comfortable. For those using the fold-out couch in addition to the bed, we'd recommend putting the mattress on the floor (rather than leaving it on the fold-out couch), as it's more comfortable that way. In summary, we were very happy here.
Michael was there to receive us when we reached. Michael lives on the first floor while the ground floor is let out to guests. The space given to us was one bedroom and a living room. I have to grown up boys and had specifically wanted two bedrooms. The boys were expected to sleep on the pull-out couch which was inadequate for them. One ended up sleeping on the floor.
The kitchen was well equipped with all necessary things for a comfortable stay. We could cook breakfast after getting the groceries from the nearby store.
Overall a pleasant stay. As Michael describes it for honeymooners, people with children should not book this or be prepared for the lack of privacy.
We stayed a full week and the place was like a home away from home. Michael set a time to meet and Polina met us with clear, easy and reasonable instructions regarding the apartment. The location and neighborhood is safe, quiet and live-able (with excellent food and transportation an easy walk) . Our family of 4 (kids 8 and 10) didn't rent a car The "N" Muni line is a quick walk -about one block away. Great reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance (Marnee Thai, Arizmendi bakery coop, The Craw Station, Gordo's Taqueria and many fancy options too) . The kitchen is very well stocked with appliances and utensils (my husband was thrilled having an electric kettle). Polina let us know about a little grocery market about a block away (for simple needs). The master bed was comfortable. The fold-out couch was good for kids (an adult might be a little heavy for it -comfort wise). Micheal and Paulina live upstairs and were available for questions. We loved our stay and would recommend the place (and the neighborhood) wholeheartedly.
Michael was a super nice host and took care to show us around the place when we arrived, but then left us alone for the rest of the time. The apartment had a good amount of space and was well equipped with everything you could need during your stay (there was even a washer and dryer at our disposition). Great location for walking to cafes, restaurants and boutique shops on Irving Street, as well as to the De Young Museum, Academy of Sciences and Golden Gate Park in general.
The bed linens were comfy and clean, although the mattress itself felt a bit old. And while the kitchen is nice and updated, some of the rest of the apartment is less so (the couch and the shower in particular). Also, the radiators make a LOT of noise - there was constant sound of water running and gurgling, which got on my nerves after the first night. And you hear every movement of the people upstairs. Since this is a typical SF in-law apartment, i.e. situated behind the garage, the sunlight and airflow aren't great, but maybe in the summer with more daylight that would be better.
Overall, I would hesitate to pay this much to stay there again (when a decent hotel room would cost the same), but the location is really top-notch.
We had a wonderful time at the house, very nice and complete, we were very satisfied, thank you.
Michael and Polina have a nice apartment in a charming neighbourhood. You will benefit of of beautiful and nice garden. The guest are friendly.
The neighborhood is residential, but there are a couple of streets with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby.
It is a nice place to stay if you spend a few days in SF
