Michael was a super nice host and took care to show us around the place when we arrived, but then left us alone for the rest of the time. The apartment had a good amount of space and was well equipped with everything you could need during your stay (there was even a washer and dryer at our disposition). Great location for walking to cafes, restaurants and boutique shops on Irving Street, as well as to the De Young Museum, Academy of Sciences and Golden Gate Park in general.
The bed linens were comfy and clean, although the mattress itself felt a bit old. And while the kitchen is nice and updated, some of the rest of the apartment is less so (the couch and the shower in particular). Also, the radiators make a LOT of noise - there was constant sound of water running and gurgling, which got on my nerves after the first night. And you hear every movement of the people upstairs. Since this is a typical SF in-law apartment, i.e. situated behind the garage, the sunlight and airflow aren't great, but maybe in the summer with more daylight that would be better.
Overall, I would hesitate to pay this much to stay there again (when a decent hotel room would cost the same), but the location is really top-notch.
We had a wonderful time at the house, very nice and complete, we were very satisfied, thank you.
Michael and Polina have a nice apartment in a charming neighbourhood. You will benefit of of beautiful and nice garden. The guest are friendly.
The neighborhood is residential, but there are a couple of streets with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby.
It is a nice place to stay if you spend a few days in SF

Well, after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures that went with Michael introducing himself in the video, I thought this would be perfect for me recovering from surgery. When I was still in the hospital, my mom checked in for us. She and my brother who lived a few blocks over looks at the place and realize this might not work for my situation. The bathroom is tiny and far away from the bedroom. Also, the shower head is fixed which was not optimal for cleaning where I needed to clean. However, it worked out. We ended up staying there and it was fine, the host was very nice and friendly. It was so relaxing to go in the back and sit on the back porch and a challenge for my recovery that was good, for me to walk down the nice stairs and look at the beautiful plants , trees and flowers. Maybe I would stay there again if I was not having surgery. Wonderful for couples or two separate people who one is whom does not mind sleeping on a sofa bed pull out. Other than accessibility to the bathroom and shower, it was great.
Nice apartment in a charming neighbourhood. Huge fresh garden. The guest are friendly. Not clean though.
We had a nice stay in the apartment. It was spacious for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) and well-appointed. Public transportation was very close. It is about a 30 minute ride on the MUNI to downtown. The neighborhood is definitely residential, but there are a couple of streets with plenty of restaurants and stores. Golden Gate park is very very close and well worth spending some time in--the proximity to the park is actually why we chose to stay here. Michael filled us in on all the features in the apartment, including the very nice garden.
Parking can be found in the neighborhood (which is hilly) but I did have to drive around a bit to find it.
I was in SF for a week visiting friends and Michael's cute garden apartment made my stay all the more special! I loved the natural light that came in through the garden windows, and the patio area is just delightful. Michael was very sweet and accommodating, and the living room and kitchen were perfectly equipped for making the apartment feel like a home away from home.
