Modern guest house, a perfect solution for businessmen and tourists during your stay in the exciting developing Ho Chi Minh City
We stayed at TuMy Nguyen just before coming back home. It was the most amazing days in Vietnam. The best is a location, situated not far from tourist center, but far enough to have a better local experience. Room is clean and new. Host is really helpful. Cán bộ, dear Duc!
Great host - clean and spacious. Family run. Sister lives in NYC, father and son run. Good value. Next to market and 1/2 block from nice temple grounds. Authentic experience. Email of directions helped taxi driver. Use "white" taxis - Vinasun. Avoid "Happy taxi"
We stayed here the first two nights of our Vietnam-Trip and regreted later that we didn't stay in one of the hostels in the centre, because the neighborhood was kind of creepy in the dark for us, no one spoke English when we arrived, our room was dark (different from the pictures) and not very clean for European standards. Dukes parents seemed friendly and did their best to communicate with us through their hands, but the house was kind of noisy at night and there was no bus to the center when we stayed there so we had to take a taxi or walk.
So if you know what a "real" vietnamese neighboorhood is like, stay here but if you are new like us it might be a little too much for the beginning.
Our stay had been very nice. The room was clean and the host helped a lot when we forgot our wallet at a taxi. It's a very local area and you need to take a taxi to get to the citycenter. Many taxi driver didn't find the house directly so you should print out a map to show it.
Tumy is a very nice room person and host you well. The room is clean and has A/C. The room is located only 20 minutes from distinct 1.
I recommend it.
Tumy guesthouse is a wonderful place for any travelers or backpackers hoping to stay with a local Vietnamese family. The room is very spacious, clean, and comfortable. It's about 10 min cab ride from the airport. To get to the city center In district 1, it's about 30 minute walk or 5 minute motorbike ride. There are plenty of markets and cafés close by though.
The best part of all is that the family is sweet and friendly. Duke speaks great English and he will help you set up your travel plans. I enjoyed my daily vietnamese lessons from his father.
I will definitely come back here if I'm ever in HCMC!
Arrived down a side street where TuMy's parents live, they unlocked the door and let me in.
The room in their private home, two stories up was comfortable, private and had its own bathroom.
Wifi in the room was a bonus and so was a fridge in the room to keep whatever I purchased cool.
Every day, upon arrival, someone was home to greet me and open the door for me.
The area around their home is a vibrant public market where food and whatever your hearts desire can be acquired.
Moto taxi and taxi is available a block away and you're off to D1 or wherever you want to go.
Note: a bit of a ways from D1 but nice local area.
God contact, everything was correct.
TUMY is in a great, safe neighborhood that isn't overrun with backpackers. The nearby Ba Chieu market is a source of activity from morning til night. The family was extremely sweet and accommodating, and the house is immaculate. Highly recommended!
We spent one night at the TuMy Guest House at the end of our Vietnam holiday. TuMy was incredibly responsive to our questions prior to arrival. We took a taxi from the airport to the given address, and the cab driver was a little confused about where to go. But we found the place after he asked an English-speaking pedestrian in the neighborhood for some assistance. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two individuals (possibly TuMy's parents) who did not speak very much English, but were very friendly and warm. They showed us the room which was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described, and gave us keys and demonstration on how to use A/C and fan. We didn't get an outside gate key, so we had to ring the bell to be let in later on. When we came home that night, we met Duke - a younger member of the family who spoke proficient English. He helped us find the grocery store for toiletries the following morning. We felt very comfortable and safe staying there with the family, and it was fun to see a non-touristy perspective of Ho Chi Minh City. All in all, our stay was lovely - and truly an excellent deal for the price.
