I'm a proud seventh-generation Texan, born and raised in Dallas but once I came to Austin for college, I knew this was home. I have degrees in History and Textiles but never expected to actually get to use them for work. Becoming a professional quilter and custom clothier kind of took me by surprise.
I am always working on a handful of projects. Some of those quilts and wearable art end up traveling the world, competing in shows. I also love to watch movies and tv, talk news, read anything that sounds interesting and make just about everything homemade, from scratch. That includes jams & jellies, chocolates, soap -- I even sew some of my own clothes and dye a lot of fabric.
My husband and I have season tickets to the opera and love to check out the local companies when we travel. We also both love both symphony and chamber music but can't seem to agree on any other genre. I'm very oldies and current singer/songwriter (think John Mayer or Sara Bareilles) while he's a fan of The Cardiacs and Stereolab. We do agree on The Beach Boys, at least.
