If you're wanting to be a better host, visit Jeff and Emily's cabin and take notes. Every detail was thought of to make a guest feel welcome. We had exactly the weekend we were hoping for - long morning hikes through rolling hills and farmland, great day trip options (Devil's Lake, Taliesin, and nothing says Wisconsin like a local cheese factory tour), campfires to warm up the cool evenings, and great hosts who made us feel very welcome. We would (and already have) recommend this place to any friend looking for a beautiful getaway.
Our family of three had a terrific stay with Emily, Jeff, Mason, and Elliot, on their beautiful farm in the hills of SW Wisconsin. We felt welcomed even before we arrived. Knowing that we traveled with a baby, Emily offered toys, booster seat, a hiking backpack, and a stroller, so we didn't have to pack a ton of equipment. She also suggested places to stop for a walk or a meal on the way and in the area. The farm and the cabin are really lovely. We enjoyed exploring the trails through the woods, apple picking, sitting by the campfire at night, and just looking at the wonderful view. We also really appreciated that the kitchen and fridge were stocked with local beer, cheeses, fruit, and crackers when we arrived, as well as cereals and coffee and tea for breakfast. And Emily generously invited us to get vegetables from her garden, which we did -- and they were great! We can't recommend this lovely farm and wonderful hosts more highly -- just what we were hoping for. We'd certainly like to go back!
Highly Recommend! We had a lovely time at this very cozy cottage. It was lightly raining the day we got in, but we had a very good time listening to the rain on the roof, and Jeff was sweet enough to move their barbeque under an overhang so I could grill... the next morning, fog rolled in on the valley and we had an amazing hike up to a meadow at the top of the hill behind. by the time we got up there, the fog had burned off, and we could see for miles. Lovely, lovely day. thanks Jeff & Emily!
My wife & I had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Jeff & Emily's cabin. We arrived in the afternoon and did some hiking & exploring. Jeff suggested a nice place in town for dinner which was perfect. When we returned just after sunset Jeff & Emily had already started the fire pit for us. Trout fishing in the inviting little stream was a great way to spend our mornings and afternoons. We enjoyed each evening making smores and drinking wine by the fire. A herd of deer & several pheasant wondering about to graze made the spectacular sunsets at this place extra special. Listening to the crickets, locus, and coyotes at night made falling asleep a true treat. It's something we never hear living in the city.
So many little things you might forget at home were all in the cabin. Picking fresh veggies for dinner in their garden was also very generous. We highly recommend staying at Jeff & Emily's cabin. Their kindness is really appreciated and we will certainly return.
Emily and Jeff have a gorgeous place. We didn't get to meet in person but Emily responded very quickly through email and had several suggestions for us to check out in neighboring towns (Aunt Ozie's really does have some good calzone's and the ice cream was some of the best I've ever had). We had everything we needed in the cabin (even to prepare/eat food and clean) and the little notes around the house were a really nice touch. The land is beautiful and great for a trek through the woods (just be sure to bring a compass or gps in case you happen to venture off the trail).
This little getaway is absolutely perfect if you're looking for a peaceful respite from city life.
this place was fantastic! We has 3 women on the way to the spa, and it was a wonderful way to ease into serenity. Emily and Jeff left the logs ready for a fire, s'mores ingredients, local cheese and crackers. The cabin was lovely, and in the morning we hiked the trails. Really pretty views. hey even shared their garden veggies with us. We will be back.
This place is adorable and in such a serene and beautiful setting; I've never seen so many stars at night! Jeff and Emily were wonderful hosts; Emily sent us many suggestions for places and things to see, do, and eat. I mentioned how I was vegan and she not only included restaurant suggestions, but she also left soy milk for me to enjoy with breakfast! I would definitely return.
great hosts and a wonderful setting. wish we could have spent more time there. + our dog had a great time too.
Really lovely place in a beautiful part of Wisconsin, Jeff was a wonderfully welcoming host!
We had a great (although far too short) visit to Jeff and Emily's cabin. After a few anxious minutes spent looking for the driveway to the property (not really the hosts fault; we arrived well after dark), we settled in for a relaxing, low key night. After a wonderful and refreshing night sleep, we awoke and were able to view the splendor of the surrounding countryside in the morning light. After a light breakfast graciously provided by the hosts, we departed for our days travels. We so wish we could have spent many more nights at this wonderful property.
Emily and Jeff were great guests. They did a wonderful job of detailing their needs and expectations beforehand. I enjoyed answering their questions about what to do in the area. Unfortunately we had to leave before they arrived. So we never actually got to meet them. But they left the place in great shape for when we got back.
