Happy 1 Year Anniversary to The Best Nest Guesthouse. With over 200 guests from all over the world and many folks from different parts of the USA having stayed with us, I truly feel blessed. Each time a guest shares something in the guest book about their experience during their stay with us, I get to see my self through their eyes. Whether it is sharing my favorite dinner spots or encouraging a weary traveler to order a gluten free pizza delivered hot to the Nest, while they do a load of laundry, while watching a movie, enjoying the complimentary popcorn and sipping on some wine, or hearing about how the birds outside at the feeders entertained them during their breakfast and recently a flock of quail have been showing up in the late afternoon (happy hour) to pick up the leftover bird seed on the deck that the messy birds let drop out of the feeders!! Then I was amazed by the 4 year old who came down for one night and did not want to leave the next morning...she was ready to live here with us!! These memories have made hosting so special for me, since I developed fibromyalgia 11 years ago, my disability had limited my social network. With the help of my various assistants we manage to keep the guesthouse energy flowing from guest to guest, making my once smaller social life a bit fuller each day I greet a new guest. So we started the calender again in April 2014 and had 26 nights booked for the month! (a new record set!!!) I look forward to the next flock of guests this year and welcome repeat guests with our Friend Rate Program for previous guests! We also have our monthly referral gift when someone mentions your name after they have booked and stayed with us (a $25. value, that now changes each month!!) ! We will be hanging a map of the world on the wall to allow us to track our friends migrations..lol... I have lived in NY, Puerto Rico, Kauai, Maine and California!! Having stayed at many places while traveling the world, I have a dream of creating the perfect "nest" for anyone looking for a quiet mountain retreat, while still being close to town, wineries and Hearst Castle. I love the Central Coast and am honored to share my knowledge of local restaurants, concerts and special events info with my guests. I value all feedback from my guests and over the past year have adapted the guesthouse amenities to feedback I have received. Our property is lit by hundreds of solar lights that glow all around the guesthouse at night!! A UFO landing strip....so I have been told! I love to create art and baked goods, so if you have a favorite cookie or muffin just let me know and I will see what we can do to give you a homemade treat while you are visiting the area! Also, if you are celebrating a special day while staying with us, let me know and I can help make your stay an additional reason to celebrate!! Custom wine solar art themed gifts are available for purchase where the proceeds are donated to fund children's art programs locally! When our chickens are laying we will offer you freshly cooked hard boiled eggs in our full size refrigerator along with a wide variety of gluten, dairy free and vegan food choices with advance notice. We have seasonal fruit trees, hammocks and 3 happy dogs to meet and greet you! We truly look forward to having you arrive as a guest, and leave as a friend! Happy travels...Amie
