Welcome to Penny's place volume 2! After nearly a year out of town working in L.A. on various film projects I've returned home to Denver. My current house is only 73 years old, a relative youngster compared to the hundred year old place I was in. Now as then I live in the highly desirable Washington park area, on the east side of the park.
My little Tudor style cottage has a sunny guest room that is right next door to the shared bath. There's a comfy bed, down pillows, flannel sheets in winter and crisp cotton in summer.
I have high speed internet and a flat screen TV in the living room with lots of cable channels and HBO. You are welcome to join me or I'll supply you with a password to watch programing on your laptop in your room.
I grew up in the Washington Park area and love it here. The park is beautiful with lots of amenities, 2.2 m running track. Rec center with pool, free weights, machines and gym, 2 lakes one with paddle boats.
The immediate neighborhood has 2 little pockets filled with restaurants, bars and a range of shopping and services. if you go a mile in any direction you have a huge range of options for everything you might want or need. A block away is the BEST ice cream in town. On summer nights the line stretches out the door and everyone is waiting to pick their favorite flavor from the changing menu of ice cream flavors made on the premises.
I'm close to transportation, the highway and light rail are about 3/4 miles away. You can walk or take the bus a half block away to the DU station.
I am centrally located so close to excellent shopping and lots of entertainment options. Several hospitals are within about a 15+/- minute drive if you are a visiting medical professional. I am also within one mile of DU.
I know the city well, am a skier, love theater, live music and sports. Denver is a great place to live, plenty of things to do no matter what your taste or interests. The wonderful lifestyle here also makes it a great place to visit. Colorado is a friendly place where smiles are in ready supply.
My family is Greek and we Greeks are know for our hospitality. I always take that extra step to make a stranger feel welcome whether they are asking for directions or are a guest in my home.
Growing up we could always bring a friend home without warning and be assured there would be an extra place at the table and a warm experience with our family. My wish is to offer the same kind of hospitality AND repay the many kindnesses bestowed upon me while I have traveled in other parts of the world.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know many lovely new people via Airbnb.
Happy Travels, Penny
