Brenden and Helen set the bar high when it comes to Airbnb. Between the great conversation, comfortable bedroom and their friendly dog Charlie, there isn't much to say other than my cat, Walter, and I enjoyed our stay so much we were sad to say goodbye. I know the next time I am in OAK/SFO their listing will be the first thing I check for vacancy.
Brenden and his girlfriend Helen were great hosts.
I stayed there for a month and got to feel at home.
Their dog, Charlie, is amazing dog and will be sure to brighten your day.
Great location to the BART and Jack London Sq.
Had a wonderful stay at Brenden and Helen's place in Oakland. Comfortable room and conveniently located a few blocks from the BART station, we were able to travel into the city easily and back as well. Definitely recommended and I miss their dog Charlie already!
As a first-time Airbnb user, I couldn't be more pleased with my stay. Brenden and Helen were really gracious hosts and the apartment itself is really quite nice. Their dog, Charlie, is super cute and friendly. If you're reading this review and considering this property, look no further -- this was an awesome find.
this place is awesome, the photos do not do it justice. the space is larger than the photos suggest and lets in a TON of natural light. i cant say enough how much we enjoyed our stay here. absolutely comfortable. plenty of towels and linens. great big TV with roku and thunderbolt connectivity for mac users. we were welcome to whatever was in the kitchen which was much appreciated. kitchen was fully stocked with whatever you needed to cook a meal. large dining table comfortably seating 6. a block from the amtrak. plenty of street parking. the best part was the humongous rooftop deck that is RIGHT OUTSIDE the living room. great PRIVATE outdoor seating area with a bocce ball court. there's also washer and drier free to use. two full baths. needless to say...this place is highly recommended.
My boyfriend and I were first timers at airbnb and needed a place to stay while visiting the Bay Area for a week. Brenden was very easy to communicate with and was very prompt in replying back. Helen, Brenden's girlfriend took us into their lofty apartment and made us feel extra welcome and not awkward at all. The couple has a cute lil dog named Charlie, a lil man with good doggy manners and plenty of character. If you're not a dog person, he's actually really chill, quiet and well-behaved. Helen just advised us to leave our room's door shut whenever we left the apartment so Charlie didn't get into our belongings. At first glance, the apartment looked exactly like it did in the pictures posted on airbnb. It was neat, modern and well-kept. The couple was nice enough to share their common room and dining area with us, not to mention you could enjoy a hot cup of coffee on the rooftop patio overlooking the Amtrak rail and the Oakland Warehouse District which any urbanist would definitely appreciate. If you're into literature and just good books in general, you'll probably find a good read or two in their bookshelf. For health and fitness buffs, there's a gym conveniently located in the apartment building and another urban workout spot where they hold classes just around the corner of where you are going to be staying. The guest bedroom where we stayed at was very comfortable, no loud tacky decor or anything of that sort, Helen did a good job fixing the place up. We definitely had no issues going to sleep, the only thing is that the staircase was just outside the apartment unit and we could hear people going up and down the steps at random times which really wasn't a big deal to us. The room also came with it's own private bathroom complete with clean folded towels and bath essentials (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, soap, hairdryer, etc). The whole experience definitely beat staying at a drab overpriced city hotel and we couldn't be happier that we picked Brenden and Helen's airbnb. They were a cool couple to say the very least, both young professionals who did their own thing at home and did not hover around us at all, they respected our privacy as we respected theirs. For first timers here, my boyfriend and I were really impressed with how smooth everything went- booking the place was so easy, and it helped a lot to have such good hosts like Brenden & Helen which made traveling stress-free . It was easy getting there from SFO via BART, Lake Merritt station was only 4 blocks away and the lively Jack London Square was within walking distance as well. You'll never run out of things to do in their area and we wished we could have extended our stay to fully enjoy everything that the city had to offer, we highly recommend Brenden's airbnb and we can't wait...
It was a great and positive surprise to stay with Helen and Brenden.
Very nice and easy going young couple.
Their loft is very cool, brand new and super clean; the room has its own bathroom and they took care of all the little details to make my stay very comfortable. Much better than so many hotels!
You can either enjoy privacy, share the living room or leverage a big open area in front of their apartment.
You find several interesting areas in less than 10 minutes walk (or by car with easy parking), BART station, Ferry port, Marina with fancy restaurants and alternative places (Jack London Square). There is a train track close-by but the isolation is very effective and didn't bother me at all, although I am sensitive to noise pollution. I loved the vegetarian and wine bar, opened late, and just a block from the apartment.
From downtown SF, it is the same distance as staying in Mission, just the other way. I found it super convenient. I would definitively book again when I have the opportunity.
My stay with Brenden and his girlfriend was great! They were super hosts and wanted to make sure my needs were met. The bedroom and en suite were spacious and the bed was super comfy (if you don't like firm beds you might have a different opinion, but I love firm beds). They're located in a pretty new apartment/loft style building, and the only negative is that the Amtrak trains sound their horns whenever they're going past. They recommended some local restaurants and wine bars within walking distance and their place was 6 blocks from a BART stop. All in all, I had a great stay and would recommend their place if you're ever in the vicinity.
Brendon was a great guest. Friendly, communicative and clean. Come again any time!
Brenden and his friend and adorable dog, Charlie, were wonderful guests at the Log Home in Carmel Valley. Charlie is a very well-behaved canine whom we allowed into the house with no problem at all, and he got along great with our dalmatian. Brenden communicated his arrival plans and left the place spotless - I highly recommend them as guests for all AirBnB hosts.
