Stephen and Jim are the best! My best friend drove from NC, and I from Houston to meet at Moon Over Mazant for her first time ever to NOLA; I've been several times but only for short weekends or just passing through. Stephen and Jim helped to make our trip the absolute best! Obviously experienced experts in hospitality, they're each knowledgeable about the surrounding area of Bywater, and also recommended several "must do's" in the French Quarter for those of us who are looking for something other than Bourbon St.
I've never stayed in Bywater before and now I never want to stay anywhere else! Highly recommend.
My sister and I had a wonderful time at this property. It was immaculate and big enough for two people. I stayed for 14 days, which was a while to go without a proper kitchen, but with so many exceptional restaurants in the area, it wasn't that big of a deal.
Don't be afraid to explore the local area, the Bywater is truly beautiful.
Moon over Mazant is an awesome place to stay. Located by many fabulous places- all within easy walking distance- we had no trouble enjoying this neighborhood. Be sure to take the bikes out for a cruise at least one day.
We were greeted and welcomed with cocktails by our fabulous hosts. We got the inside scoop and felt very welcomed.
The place itself is lovely and comfortable.
Well worth it and fairly priced.
A perfect location for a taste of New Orleans. Such a wonderful neighborhood with so much character with a place to match. Steve and Jim are the hosts with the most.
We had a great time in New Orleans and staying with Stephen and Jim made us feel right at home. The location was very convenient to the bus, park, bars, local architecture, and the best BBQ restaurant (The Joint) right on the corner. It was nice to be able to run around the city, see all the sights, and come back to relax in the nice comfy beds. We would definitely be back for another round.
We had an amazing time staying at Stephen and Jim's beautiful home in the Bywater, the location was perfect and the accommodations and hospitality far exceeded our expectations in every way. Our lovely hosts made sure we were comfortable and had everything we required, including a fridge stocked with fresh fruit, juice, milk, even wine and beer! Also a Keurig coffee machine and drawer full of coffee pods were very welcome luxuries. The decor was tasteful and fun, and all provided amenities (bedding, bath products, electronics) were very high quality. Located in a relatively quiet spot but still very much in the vibrant Bywater community with easy access to plenty of great food and art, definitely try Elizabeth's and Baccanal is very close for great music and wine. My only regret is that we didn't find time to take our hosts up on their offer of a fireside cocktail but I would love to be their guest again in the future and correct that omission! Thanks guys, we truly had a wonderful time.
We had a lovely stay on Mazant street! The apartment was adorable, the location ideal, and the hosts repeatedly asked if there was anything more they could do to make our stay more comfortable. Thanks!
What a wonderful place both Stephen and him really top knotch guys . Very quirky characters enjoyed our New Orleans experience immensely . Stephen and jim were great fantastic host . Well recommended place to anyone
Steven and Jim were the best hosts!!! Made us feel so welcome before we even arrived. Super friendly and generous with knowledge about New Orleans. Took us to an awesome parade and within a few hours I felt like I was truly experiencing New Orleans. The house was adorable, cozy, very clean, and a perfect location. It was my first visit to New Orleans, surely not my last and I will come back to this exact spot! I would be happy to stay at the Moon Over Mazant again!
From the second we opened the door until the moment we put the keys through the mail slot, we felt like we had walked into a bit of heaven in NOLA. Jazz quietly playing in the background, welcoming lights, a stocked fridg, fresh fruit, chicory coffee. Stephen and Jim were always accessible and bent over backwards to meet our needs. The neighborhood is fantastic...a bit off the path for those who like this with accessibility to great food, music, wine, the river. The space itself is divine....comfy bed, lovely library sitting area, great art work.
And then there is the garden...the welcoming fire, a toast or two with our hosts. Moon over Mazant is a treasure.
Thank you for the lovely review! Also, please look us up on Facebook, we'd love to see what other adventures you're both up to! Jim Wiegand and Stephen Graffeo
This place is awesome! Friendly hosts who are accommodating and entertaining without being in the way. The house is incredibly cozy and well decorated. You will either feel very much at home there or you'll wish it WAS your home. :)
Stephen G!! what can i say about him? i first met him in 2002 He is one of the quickest, funniest, observant, intelligant guys i have ever met!! Im not sure he realises how funny he is! his quick, sharp wit should be shared with everyone! a racconteur, an observer of life! We have stayed with him several times and he is a generous host indeed! nothing was too much trouble, he has an attention to detail unsurpassed. but he is not a pushy or demanding host! happy to be there but happy to give you space. I think he sums up what New Orleans is about! love his company!!
I'm good friends with both of these chaps and, personal bias aside, they are hands down truly two of the most hospitable, warm, welcoming people you could hope to know. Even if they lived in a pothole on Bourbon St they would still manage to make you love it with it's charming decor and atmosphere. Fortunately, they live in a hip yet quaint 'hood (see other reviews) close to most of what you'd want to be close to. Come expecting the aesthetics and amenities, leave with unexpected friends you'll prob send Xmas cards to :-)
