I started out as a journalist many moons ago, switched to the business side of magazine publishing (e.g., ad sales at Sports Illustrated), then left publishing for Wall Street after graduating business school, where I have been and am a portfolio manager and private wealth manager.
I have a delightfully mischievous black labrador retriever named Bonnie (she is not at the apartment), and love to play sports (I was on the United States Field Hockey Team as well as the United States Lacrosse Team. For you Brits, I played with the US Field Hockey Team against England in Wembley Stadium back in the last century, and for many years, we held the Guinness Book of World Records for biggest live audience to view a women's sports game: some 70,000+!)
I also love to travel, and delight in telling what China was like in 1984, when I landed in the Beijing airport with a total of one other plane in the entire airport, and one old wooden hanger with faded Mao Tse Tung murals still on the wall. I flew China Air, which I only learned afterwards, had the worst safety record in the world. Indeed, they handed us hand fans when we boarded because the ventilation wasn't working. My, how things have changed.
I also love to write -- mostly issue-related -- and am involved in various nonprofits, from theater to education to Outward Bound. I am currently on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of a major University as well.
