Don't rent to Derrick. He is cheap, untrustworthy and goes back on his word. Derrick had committed to stay several months with me but changed his mind when he arrived to move in. The room was in great condition and exactly as advertised. He brought up silly reasons and tried hard to lower the rent. When I refused to lower the rent, stating that $500 is a great deal in DC, he abruptly changed his mind and left. I have a feeling, it was his plan all along to do this. A week later, Derrick started bugging me about the security deposit: $120. Airbnb informed me that the tenant forfeits the deposit if they change their mind. I had lost a lot more than this since I had to turn other tenants away. Derrick was so adamant to receive the deposit back and sent me very nasty messages. I would not recommend staying with this guy especially after his nasty demeanor and language.
Response from Derrick:
Those who know me know this is inaccurate. This host is upset that I told the truth in my recent review. That's all I can say.
Very nice guest
