Jen has been the perfect host - easy to check in, always contactable, super relaxed about check in and check out times and the place is the ideal place to stay if you want to be in the Hollywood Hills but still close to everything that you need. The apartment is beautiful, with a great patio to get some sun, the country store is on the doorstep and Sunset is walkable or a very cheap uber away. My best Air B&B experience to date and there have been a lot of them...thank you Jen!
We really enjoyed our time at Jennifer's place in Laurel Canyon. It's a very cute little cottage not far up into the hills, so close to everything in Hollywood and central if you need to get to both East and West sides easily (as we did). We had our dog with us and Jennifer was totally accommodating (a dog person herself). We had everything we needed there - fully stocked kitchen, parking, entertainment, etc - and Jennifer's communication and instructions were spot on. The place was a tiny bit dusty, but otherwise super clean. We did have some trouble with the driveway - you have to back out down a narrow road - but it was a small price to pay for the great location. Loved being so close to the famous Canyon Country Store. Thanks Jennifer!
Jen's house was lovely with so much warmth. It's a perfect hideout in LA even tho it's only 5minutes from the sunset blvd. I love both the city and the nature, so if you're a nature lover yet you need to be close to the happening area, her house is perfect for that. The house will welcome you and keep you feel at home. She even left some food for me which was sweet! Thanks Jen.
Jen's place was a delight to stay in. It was very convenient to my son's home so it was perfect for the holidays. Patricia and I enjoyed the funky arty space with a feel of Bali mixed it. We will definitely stay again. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked including two cool ways of making coffee. We loved hearing the bell as we opened the gate to this little Shangri-la. Jen also left us little treats to begin our day. Thank you Jen.
The space was as described, cozy and a welcome retreat. Communication was good once the reservation was accepted.
Ideal for those who like to have a bit of space and natural habitat. We enjoyed the bird watching. Only issue being the inability to turn around in the drive requiring backing about 300 feet along a narrow dirt drive.
After clawing our way through 1700 miles of Interstate we arrived, just off Love Street, to the perfect Laurel Canyon hideaway. Tucked up on the side of a foothill, the urban jungle is distantly visible beyond the treehouse-like lodging. Small bouquets of flowers and other goodies awaited us. We soaked in the California sun for a bit, mustering our spirit for our whirlwind assault on the City of Angeles, donned our finery and descended into the Hollywood maelstrom. For several days we repeated this manner of adventure, recharging, regrouping, strategizing in the eve, dawdling in the morn, watching the sun rise and the sky clear, only to plunge back into our exploration.
This location is steeped in Hollywood history - visit the Canyon Country Store! Any last minute necessity they will have in addition to deli offerings, coffee and peace and love. Hollywood is laid out like a picnic at your feet, and the freeways are close at hand to whisk (or shuffle) you onto other locales. The Observatory is a special treat; make sure you endeavor to navigate there before dusk to take in the spectacle of LA below.
I won't waste your time telling you what else I think you should see, but your base of operations should be this verdant little secret in the canyon. I can't imagine anything else we would want when we return.
We stayed 11 nights at Jenn's bungalow with our 5 month old daughter. Built in the 1920's, it maintains its charm and is nicely decorated.
Although we ate out quite a bit, the kitchen is well stocked and has condiments which you may need during your stay.
There is wildlife in the area, which was unexpected being only 2 minutes from Sunset. We saw a deer across the hillside, squirrels in the garden and watched the hawks and hummingbirds from the outdoor lounge.
The Canyon store is 100m down the road which made for an easy coffee trip in the mornings, sandwiches and grocery items.
Pace Restaurant is below the store and is a must while you are staying. Travelling with a baby is certainly not easy to manage time, but on 3 occasions they were able to seat us for an early dinner without bookings.
Lovely little bungalow in Laurel Canyon. Jennifer was great & very responsive. Water pressure in the shower was terrific (for those who care about that sort of thing). Would definitely stay again!
lovely location with complete privacy. shops nearby on foot. would stay again definitely.
This place is totally lovely and a great place to spend a week. It was extremely comfy and the kitchen is great. Very secluded and quiet. You'll sleep very very well.
Jennifer and Peter were fabulous guests. Being a host herself, Jennifer knows what it's like to have guests at your home and gives it a great deal of respect. She left our guesthouse as clean as she found it and was a pleasure to deal and talk to. Hope she comes back again. I highly recommend her as a guest or host.
Jennifer was the perfect guest. Kept the place clean and let me know the exact time she would be arriving. We would have her again anytime.
Hey! I've stayed here and its AMAZING! It's perfectly located right up Laurel Canyon - w the Country Store just a walk down the driveway...a minute ride to Sunset and all the action, yet when you are there... you feel like you are on vacation in the country w an incredible view below! Utterly charming old school LA feeling nestled in the mountainside - great patio deck amenities w the view...I can't imagine staying any place else!
I love this place. A little writer's retreat set back from the street and down a dirt road. this adorable house is perfect for anyone trying to just get away but still very convenient to the city. Pace and The Country Store are right next door! the patio is perfect for sunny days.
This is a magical place to stay in LA. The house is amazing - beautifully adorned, 1920s style with everything you need available to you. Amazing view of hills and little glance of the city. Big windows, lots of light, great bed, bathroom, and beautiful place to invite friends. The deck is so great for entertaining and just chilling out. Most of the time it feels like you are not even in LA. Location is incredible - a walk away from the county store and the amazing restaurant PACE - and this area of Laurel Canyon actually has a community feel. Jen is a brilliant host. Should she be there when you are, she won't bother you but she is accommodating to your every need. This is seriously a little modest piece of paradise within a city that can be brutal. My only trepidation about writing this review is that now it's on Air B'nB, the place might be taken next time I want to stay there!
