Annabel was a great host and the house was perfect. Our son loved the amazing gardens, the pigs, fish and the dogs. The area was fantastic and we had a great time.
A super warm welcome on a blustery February evening. The cottage is warm homely and full of wonderful imaginative pieces some created from salvaged driftwood. We loved the towel rail in the bathroom. You'll have to come and see. Fresh flowers around the cottage and fresh herbs to cook with are touches that take the cottage out of the ordinary. The pigs and the dogs molly and mikey lightened our mood no matter the weather. Annabel's art is full of colour and joie de vivre that makes this place a unique wonderful place at the edge of the world. Mick et Celine
We spent five fantastic days in Ahakista, that is a very calm and beautiful place on earth. The house was really comfortable and we had a great view on the sea. We liked the sweet dogs and the funny pigs, which liked our compost. Annabel and Klaus were very hospitable, helpful and pleasant. To stay there a few more days was a big wish from us when we must left. We will surely come back one day.
Had an amazing stay - fantastic location and a beautiful cottage, full of character. The cottage has a hugh enclosed outer area which our dogs took full advantage of. Thanks Annabel!
We had a relaxing stay in the cottage. The weather was poor for a couple of the days, but that made it perfect for staying in by the fire. The house was lovely and warm and suited the two of us, and two cats, just fine. We managed to get one day walking in, and highly recommend the area for spectacular scenery.
We spent a long weekend in the cottage to take a break from the city, is a perfect place for this. The cottage is very cosy and warm, and you have everything you need, even a nice selection of DVDs in case you are not lucky with the weather, though we were. Annabel and her husband were both very nice and approachable, we also enjoyed the company of their dog Molly who got along very well with our own. There is a pub within walking distance to enjoy a very well served pint of Murphys while overlooking the see. We definitely recommend this place and will come back at some stage.

Beautiful Tranquil Location in West Cork. Lovely picture postcard cottage with lovely gardens. Annabel met us on arrival and showed us around. A gentle, unintrusive host. A great location for a relaxing break. Amazing walks in the area.
Annabel's Seaside Cottage was exactly what we had hoped for... quiet, comfortable, bright, warm, and with easy access to the Sheep's Head Peninsula and to Beara and Mizen also. It's up a small country road, but with views of the sea, numerous looped walks and the Sheep's Head Way on the doorstep. It's a short trip to the next village for supplies and there is a local pub within walking distance with decent food if needed. We would definitely stay here again... it's a perfect location for reading, walking, chilling by the stove, or even as a working retreat. It was an added bonus that our dog was welcome and had other four-legged friends around. Annabel was a lovely host, immediately showing us around her beautiful garden and offering us vegetables from the raised beds. Although Annabel and Co. live in an extension of the house, we always felt like we had our own private accommodation, with the benefit of having her on-hand for anything we needed. There was lots of place to sit out, both in the back garden and overlooking the sea in the small garden across from the cottage, lovely for evening dinners. The house itself was lovely, beautifully decorated with Annabel's own work, and with a selection of books and DVDs for added entertainment. We came here off-season, so found it to be a quiet, peaceful place to completely relax and do some walking, and at a very good price.
The Seaside Cottage is like a pretty place from a fairytale, alive with colorful and artsy details. The two bedrooms felt like a nice childhood memory! The flower beds, the vegetable garden and the rest of the grounds are amazing. Annabel was a very friendly and discreet host, and it was a privilege to peek into her artist's studio.
Warmly welcomed, description very accurate even understated for the level of comfort, charm and ambience.
Unfortunately our time too short !
It was a real pleasure to meet Annabel and Klaus, and we very much hope to see their guest house when we next go back to Ireland. I hope they enjoyed their visit as much as we enjoyed having them to stay. There was so much common ground and lots to discuss as Annabel is a talented and engaging artist, whose work I covet! We both very much hope that we will meet again in Ireland.
It was a pleasure having Annabel Klaus and Lisa stay at Upper Swanage. We hope they had a good time and would welcome them back anytime.
