Well, I come from a fairly well travelled family ...with family connections to Mauterndorf where my mother was born. We love travelling and especially unspoilt , authentic places with good food!! Our other passions are sculpture and beautiful gardens and we are lucky to have all these things near to hand.
After many years working in high end retail, I love creating spaces which people feel good in... - you would not believe what I have carried in my luggage.
As we are not really Winter people, [ a week or 2 of white stuff is great then we need to head south], we love to have guests stay at the house and enjoy the snow in Winter or the many sports acivities in the Summer...Lungau Alm Summer.
Every year we make improvements to the house which is evolving . This year we added a new apartment and completely updated 3 bathrooms, bringing the fittings from our favourite design shops in London! We like seeing the ancient 'bone's' of the house and have left rock walls, old wood doors and beams exposed where possible.
We love the outdoors and gardening and are learning to cycle and hunt for mushrooms which are a local treat! We have a really mixed international group of friends in the village along with relatives of mine who have always lived in the area. The hound, Mr Fritz Summers with us and has taken us on great walks, Austria is very dog friendly and he has his favourite restaurants!!
I speak German but my husband is still learning but we find lots to do culturally..like going to the Porsche museum and Pankratium in arty Gmund nearby and the farmers market in Tamsweg. We are a short drive from Salzburg which we go to for a city fix and love the modern art museum there overlooking the city , the Christmas market is amazing and truely festive, but we happily go to find great produce on Thursdays to the Schranner market by the Mirabelle gardens which has been going for 500 years.. produce fresh every week though! There are loads of local festivals all year round which involve music, beer and eating sausage!!! fun but not great for the waistline!
So far, we find that if we like a place, so do other people- what else can I say?!
