PhD Student. Flâneuse. I have travelled thousands of kilometers from my home in Toronto to see my favourite band (The Arcade Fire), the works of my favourite artist (René Magritte), and, along the way, some of the most incredible art and architecture in the world.
I've stood between Starry Night and The Scream at MoMA, snorkelled in the Indian Ocean, ridden a class 5 Nile River rapid in a lifejacket, bathed in Iceland's blue lagoon, been train-napped in Amsterdam and taken to The Hague, enjoyed tea at the Woolseley beside Dame Helen Mirren on my birthday, consumed many a mojito in Old Havana, seen the lights of Tivoli at night, chilled on an island with peacocks in Dubrovnik, run along the boardwalk in Barcelona at dusk, watched the sun set in the dome of the Reichstag (then stumbled home in Berlin well into the day), sung with strangers on the Spanish Steps, limped through Venice on a broken foot, chased a red rhinoceros to Monaco, combed the souks of Marrakech for the perfect perfume bottle, and wandered the Louvre after hours with a glass of champagne in my hand.
When I'm not wandering the world with a carry-on and a laptop bag for months at a time, I sing pop songs in a bar every week and perform with Toronto's choir!choir!choir!, and teach first year university students at York University about social justice, civic engagement, and environmental sustainability.
