I made a kind public review without mentioning the patch of mold in the bathroom or the uncomfortable bunk bed mattress where you could feel the springs. The cheap polyester quilts where neither warm nor comfortable. All these negative points I kindly communicated to you privately see you could address them.
You say I am fussy yet we never met and I only asked for an additional quilt from your caretaker who sleeps in the living room. It's rather clear that you run your apartment as a money making scheme and not a BnB. I'm sorry you felt a rating of 4/5 stars was too low. I was being kind thinking that the private comments regarding the bed and bathroom would be helpful to you in improving the quality of your listing with minimal effort. I also ignored the fact that the kitchen is closed between 9pm and 9am - the times we are typically at the listing - although their is no mention of this on the public page.
Based on your reaction I assume you have no plans on making any changes - I will therefore update my review.
I arrived late (10pm) to Joyce's home and found it generally dirty and disorganized, but it was not until I found the mildew/mold in the corner of my room in morning that I was sure I wished to leave. I had breakfast and mentioned the mold to Joyce - who down played its presence by asking me if I am allergic to mold. I returned to my room and contacted airbnb about cancelling my stay. I sent them pictures of the mold and general disorganization of the home as well. At this point Joyce contacted me to see if she could come in and see the mold (or mildew as she refers to it). She stated she would clean it and asked me if that would be okay. I stated that I would like to leave and thanked her for accommodating me on such short notice.
Regarding Joyce's statement above I can see she is angry with me for what I believe was a fair review of her home as I saw it. I was always polite and kind in the total of three minutes that we interacted during my short stay. If the state of her home was unfit for guests then she should have denied my request.
I would not recommend Joyce as a host as I found her home generally messy and unhygienic She is also quite vindictive to what I believe was a fair evaluation.
Airbnb, upon seeing the pictures I sent them, provided me with a complete refund due to the exceptional circumstances. I re-booked a bedroom of similar price with airbnb in the NoDa neighbourhood and have been greatly satisfied. Thanks salvaging my trip airbnb!
