I'm a detective with the New York City police department, I live and work in Brooklyn and I'm also married and have two beautiful children.
Sean's Houseboat was A M A Z I N G . I felt like I was on a mini vacation not in Brooklyn . The decor of the boat inside is cozy, clean and beautiful. The deck is right off the bedroom, waking up to water, nice view was the best, very relaxing . Sean also had some groceries waiting for us which was awesome, saved a trip to the store. There also was a coffee maker , cable TV, and the boat was very warm and toasty which I didn't expect. Also his neighbors were great and are there if you need any assistance or questions. very helpful. I'm from Brooklyn so I was familiar with the area which is great , has lots of things to do. All in all I highly recommend this place , I would live there if I could. ^_^
We stayed in Sean Kelly's houseboat in south Brooklyn for a week. He made us feel so at home from the moment we walked in. There were groceries for us, a sweet Keurig coffee maker, it was comfy and had cable! It was our sanctuary from the holiday madness. When I told people we were staying in a houseboat they'd say isn't it going to be cold but no the houseboat was very warm!! We loved it! We'd love to stay again!! Thank you so much Sean for the amazing hospitality! The neighbors were so sweet too!
Very, very happy with the visit cannot recommend highly enough. The houseboat - we were there in winter and the place was warm and cosy. The place was also clean and tidy with a good array of the usual kitchen stuff toaster, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans. Out the front is a gas BBQ. Sean is an excellent host ..... if you are going to NYC and want somewhere to stay that is comfortable and within an easy commute of Manhattan (30 - 45 mins as an absolute max) you would be crazy to go anywhere else ! As a matter of fact - forget Manhattan - there is enough in Brooklyn to keep you interested. Vital to get a metcard ($30 for 5 days unlimited travel) as it works for all busses and met trains and maps are available at the train station - everything is easy to get quickly on arguably the best mass transit system on the planet ..... if I have the chance to get back to New York, I won't be staying anywhere else !
My friend and I stayed on Sean's houseboat and we had a ball! Rich and his lovely rescue dog Chance gave us a warm welcome and Sean kindly left us milk, fruit, tea, coffee and muffins for our breakfast. It was cute, it was cosy and it was all ours for the whole weekend. For the adventurous types who want to see more of New York than just Manhattan, this is a great place to stay. It is a bus ride away to Sheepshead Bay train station but the trip into Manhattan gives you great views of the bridges and the New York skyline. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for making us feel so welcome, guys!
We loved staying on the boat! Everything was very cozy, but not too tight. Great place to relax. Good food within walking distance. Public transit nearby. Smooth check-in & check-out. It was very windy the last night we were there and you could feel the boat rocking but it is very slight, you can feel it more in the living room of the boat than in the bedroom. We would stay here again for sure.
Cool place, calm surroundings, great with kids.
We've just returned to the UK after 6 glorious days on Sean's houseboat and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about visiting NYC.
My partner & I and our 11 year old boy loved the whole experience of staying on the boat and found the commute into Manhattan very straightforward and part of the enjoyment.
We had a great day out at Coney Island which was a nice diversion from the bustle of Manhattan and would recommend a trip to the NY aquarium to watch the sea lions perform.
We loved the breakfast bagels at Knapp Street Bagels and found their hot & cold buffet really handy when we'd had a long day sightseeing.
We only met Sean at the end of our visit, however, throughout the booking & visit communication was spot on, very fast and Rich who met us on our arrival was really friendly & helpful.
We really hope we'll be back soon!
Just got back home after spending 10 wonderful days at Sean's houseboat.
Everything went very well, from the check-in, to check-out. The place is very, very well equipped, and clean.
Access to the city is relatively easy, just take the B4 bus across the street from the bagel shop (which has a very good and affordable take-out buffet, by the way) to the Sheepshead Bay train station, a five minute ride, and you will have access to the Manhattan subway system.
I would not hesitate in recommending Sean's place to anyone who is looking for something out of the ordinary for their stay in the NYC area.
In a very hidden place we discovered Sean's houseboat, very quiet and (website hidden) the morning you can see a nice area, kind of a norway village with a lighthouse! But we were in Brooklyne! We enjoyed neighbourhood, very nice people and Sean's welcome was really great. We had everything for breakfast, coffee, fruits, etc....
We were very happy of choosing Sean's houseboat, I will recommand it to anyone who would like to stay in NewYork!
Sean is a great guy! I met him on a stay to Brooklyn and he showed me around the area and gave me great tips on travel. His boat has a lot of room and has a very peaceful feel to it. Being a NYPD detective, he is very professional and will treat everyone with the utmost respect. I highly recommend staying on his houseboat!
