I love living in Santa Cruz. The beach, great places to eat, wonderful people: who could ask for more? I enjoy walking my dog, reading and watching old movies. I keep up with world events via The Daily Show and Colbert.

We were really looking forward to our stay but were disappointed the first night when we realized the sheets were dirty. The host was out of town and the house sitter did not know where the clean sheets were so we slept between the blankets only to realized the next morning that the blankets were dirty, too! We tried to take showers in the morning but the shower was broken. I informed the host and when she returned she said a plumber would fix the shower but that never happened. The host said the previous tenants had trashed the house. I wish she had informed us of this so we could've changed our plans. Due to these circumstances, I would say the description of the room did not match the ad and would advise that potential renters ask to (website hidden) the host to check conditions before reserving.
We had a great stay at Catherine's place. She was very responsive in all communications and made us feel at home. Her place is located in a quiet neighborhood and is close to everything we wanted to do over the weekend in Santa Cruz and Capitola.
Catherine hosted my parents for a night in Santa Cruz. Good communication, thank you :)
Catherine is a warm and friendly host. She was also really fast and responsive. Best of all, she knows Santa Cruz well and offered a bunch of great restaurant tips (and other activity ideas)! I loved that she gives cookies for her guests (homemade!).
The room is large and comfortable. It gets a bit chilly in the morning, but warms up quickly. There is a ceramic space heater in the room, if you need it. My only wish would be for a shower (the room has an attached bathroom, but only has a tub).
Note that this spot is just shy of 3 miles from downtown Santa Cruz. It's a 50-60 minute walk, or about a $10 Uber ride, if you don't have a car.
Catherine was a charming hostess. The bedroom and bath were spacious. We enjoyed the night breeze by leaving the balcony door open slightly. We hope to stay there again the next time we are in Santa Cruz.
Unfortunately, Catherine had been called away out of state on a family emergency so she was not able to be there to greet me. I did not meet her until my 4th night there. The room and bathroom are both very spacious. The bed was not as comfortable as I had expected given the lovely inviting photo of it. The deck in the photo shows a table and 2 chairs, however, these were not there during my stay. If I wanted to eat outside, I had to move the indoor room chair outside and use the padded wicker bench as my table. The screen on the sliding door to the deck came off its track the first night I was there and I could never get it back on.
The neighborhood is lovely and semi-quiet, and I felt safe being alone. My brief encounters with a few neighbors in passing were pleasant.
Her dog is still in training so I needed to time my coming and going when Catherine was walking the dog. Otherwise, the dog barked at me and became upset. I am hopeful that this will change once the dog is trained and she feels safer and more comfortable in her new home.
Catherine's room is clean and comfortable. SO much room in the bedroom and bathroom. The cookies left as a welcome gift were delicious.
It is a handy location to the activities in Santa Cruz and surrounding areas.
Stay was pleasant and the room is big. Plenty of street parking available in a safe neighborhood.
Catherine was very welcoming and gave us great ideas for things to do around Santa Cruz. The room was comfortable and clean, and her house is in a very safe neighborhood. Thank you!
Catherine was a very welcoming and friendly host. The place was spacious and the house was in a friendly neighbourhood.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet Catherine, her husband Jerry came, but I can tell she is a wonderful nice person because of her husband! He is super cool to talk to and a very good caring father (he came to visit his daughter and son). We had lots of conversations, he made me feel very comfortable to have him and he taught me how to make expresso coffee! He is very easy going, doesn't worry about anything (his stay was during hurricane Sandy), and he made me feel at ease during these conditions. If he chooses to stay with any host in the future, I highly recommend him!
This was Catherine's 2nd visit with us and we would be delighted to have her back anytime!
Super nice friendly Guests - polite & respectful , Would definitely recommend to other Airbnb hosts :)
Catherine was a great guest! She was friendly, fun to talk with and a very clean guest! I highly recommend her as a guest and would be glad to have her back anytime she's in NY.
