I was born in southern Vermont just outside of Rutland to Heidi and Steve Ames. As soon as I was able to sustain a long car trip my parents took me adventuring in Washington and British Columbia. There we kayaked the islands for months on end, stopping in Native American camps and camping on the islands we found. Although I was too young to be of any help in the double kayak, I was sure to bring a selection of toys from home to weigh the boat down.
My parents instilled in me a sense of adventure which has stuck and defined every action in my life. Today I am a student at Connecticut College where I am on the TedX executive board, a member of a mens group fighting to end domestic violence, a singer in my college's first coed a cappella group, and a floor governor. I've played the violin for over 16 years and traveled to France and Shanghai to share my music. I'm a huge biker and outdoor enthusiasts as well as a tech geek.
When I travel I try to get off the beaten path and leave the camera at home. When I lived abroad for a year in Belgium I took great pride in getting lost then finding my way back home. Finding those hidden gems isn't possible without getting out there and exploring. I hope to stay with you and hear your stories!
