We were disappointed with this experience. We have used AirBNB six times total and this was our only negative experience.
We arrived in London in the evening and followed the directions provided by the contact, Margita. The door to our room was wide open and upon entering it was clear that it was being renovated (tools and work clothes scattered around the room and on the bed). Confused and a little worried, we contacted the landlord who runs the cafe downstairs and he gave us access to a different room. This all seems an unnecessary lack of communication. Based on reading other reviews, this lack of communication about the room has been going on since at least December.
The room itself was not very clean; the blankets on the bed were visibly stained. The bathroom wasn't heated (not a huge deal) but there was mildew in the shower. The beds were cots. There were no towels, but I found some in a closet in the hallway. The wifi was very weak even on the first floor.
Bottom line, the room that we stayed in was not of the quality indicated by the pictures and there seems to be a lack of communication between the onsite manager and the online manager. The only redeeming quality is the central location in downtown London.
-Blood stains on the bathroom sink
-Toilet unflushed when we arrived
-Tv did not work
-Internet code that was given to us was wrong (luckily found a note with the right one)
-Acces code of the front door was the same as our door. Other people were staying at the same address, so getting in to our room was not hard.
-Photos were obviously taken ages ago and misleading...
We did not expect much, but this was not worth the price.
Definitely staying somewhere else when we come back to this wonderful city.
If AirBnB ever gets into trouble, it will be because of this kind of places.
check in was easy. we received the check-in Information a day before arrival. Ahmet gave us a different room that we booked cuz ours wasn't ready yet. the room was clean, the beds were squeaking, towels were provided, the ceiling in the bathroom and the shower was mouldy. it was a bit noisy but it didn't bother me too much. the Café downstairs was cute. the Location is perfect. two minutes from Victoria and walking distance to Buckingham Palace, big ben, etc. it's obviously not a Hotel. but if you spend most of the time outside it's ok for the Price.
Muy buen situada pero las habitaciones no edtan en tan buen estado como en las fotos
Organisation was oke, Margita informed us in time about procedures and responded quickly when we couldn't enter (which was our mistake by the way). Also asked herself if we needed Wifi and send info right away. Location is great.
However, the room itself was disappointing. Looks nice at the pictures, but is actually poor and stuff is (very) old. Did have more of an indoor camping experience. Would expect more quality for that price. Overall wouldn't recommend the place, even though Margita did a fine job.
Booking was difficult, it took several tries to get Margita to accept the booking but she did keep me informed each time.
We arrived at 2.30 and the room was not ready. We needed to get changed so used the room to do this. It was filthy and stank of smoke. We left our bags there and were told it would be ready soon.
We returned at 430 after having a very nice meal across the road in a pub. Having given them 2 hours I assumed the room would be ready. It was not. I was worried it would not be ready when we got back late so I spoke to Naim in the cafe and he was very nice saying it would be done soon and not to worry.
We returned to a cleaned room but it was so stinking of bleach it made my eyes water! The beds were made, sheets and blanket. The sheets were clean but the blanket was filthy so I had to sleep under my coat as I just couldn't use it. There were duvets in the cupboard with no covers on that were just as filthy im afraid.
The room and corridors looked much nicer in the pictures, I think they must be quite old because there was alot of wear and tear. We also couldn't connect to the wifi.
Positives were it was an ok size room and bathroom for London, it was nice and warm, very central to Victoria station and had a sainsbury that opened at 7am across the road and there was a small tv. The instructions received from margita were clear and had everything we needed.
We didn't feel very safe as there is a key pad lock on the door, but no lock on the inside so anyone who knew the code could get in.
I'm sorry I can't be more positive but I've stayed in hostels that are cheaper and better and I would have wanted to know this when I was choosing this place.
Although the room wasn't ready at the set time upon arrival, yet I would give it for the good location near Victoria station. The room was decent for a short stay and people visiting for business.
We did not met Margita, but we suggest this place for the best location, it is just 2 mins walk from Victoria station. Anyways, we got the big problem about Wi-fi , regarding the signal is not reach to the 3rd floor. We have to go down to 1st floor to use internet.
The room in the picture is look clean but we found it was not. It is share bathroom and look old and quite not clean. We recommended with the person who like the location only.
