Kathleen's cottages were pretty awesome. My girlfriend and I decided to go away for the weekend at the last minute, and didn't even request the cottage 24 hours in advance. I was surprised that it even went through for us. Unfortunately, due to our work schedules holding us over.. we arrived a bit late after already playing with estimated arrival times earlier that day. When we arrived, Kathleen and her family were kindly waiting for us to show us around the site.
The cottages are really cute and comfy. There's a lot of privacy there, with the gazebo, and other 2 levels on the deck. My favorite was the beach bonfire and view. There's 3 different fire pits, and plenty of fire wood that they provide. There's a grocery store a few miles down the street, a domino's pizza that delivers, and water surrounding you to paddle boat, or whatever you desire to do. We ended up getting rained out for Cedar point the entire weekend, so we decided to check out Cleveland which was only 45 minutes away. Kathleen was nice enough to lend us a big umbrella so we wouldn't have to search for one to buy, or go out of our way. We really appreciated that!!!
All in all, we both loved it there and want to go back. We even considered getting friends and family together for a giant reunion for the summertime. Great place, awesome family host, and good times :)
Kathleen was an amazing host! The cottage was really nice, the view was amazing, and really peaceful! Really picturesque!! My only negative is that the address that the website had a different address then the actual address... Just make sure you get the address from Kathleen, but besides that everything else was perfect! I will be looking forward to staying again! :-)
Great experience! Was looking for a staycation in Ohio and found the Plaz Vilka. Cottage was clean. We had everything we needed. What we didn't we found in the common area. Brian who greeted us was super nice and Kathleen made the process easy. Would absolutely recommend to others and return. The only flaw was the spotty Internet service.
Enjoyed our stay and would come back again. Our cute little cottage was clean and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. A larger community kitchen is available with gas grills. Kathleen's assistant Bryan was friendly and helpful. We spent most of our time relaxing on the private beach and sitting in the lawn chairs overlooking the spectacular views of the Lake. After sunset, we travelled minutes down the road to downtown Vermillion. We went to dinner, visited a local art gallery, walked past quaint shops and ice cream parlors, making this cottage a great getaway destination.
We had fun playing volleyball at sunset, and making breakfast in the great community room. All of the beds were comfortable, and checking in was easy. I would highly recommend this place, especially for families.
A firepit on the beach, and they even have marshmallow sticks in the kitchen!
We were so pleasantly surprised by the beautiful lake view steps away from the cabin!! We got up and took breakfast to the lakeside table and enjoyed the morning beauty. We also made a fire in the fire pit at night and felt like we were camping (which we love). Wood was provided, as was a completely furnished and equipped common kitchen, which we used and greatly enjoyed as well. There is decent take-out food a short drive away (Eastern European ethnic, which was fun for us). Traffic to Cedar Point can get intense if you don't leave early, but we were enjoying the view so much that we couldn't tear ourselves away. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay in the little cottage by the lake. The view, access to the lake, and the firepit made this stay wonderful.
The cottage is very small and old...yet functional. We cooked almost everything in our cottage although there is a larger community kitchen available.
I would stay here again.
I went here for my birthday with a couple of friends, we're in our late 20s-30s.This was a wonderful place to stay and we enjoyed our time here. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Very cute and quaint little space. The views outside were absolutely gorgeous I thought. I went in mid-late June and the weather was fantastic. Bring a little bug spray...you're outdoors around water, so it's to be expected in evening hours. Overall, I would stay here again. Check out the little town's shops if you have the chance.
The Cabin was lovely and the setting by the lake was beautiful. The communal room is a great bonus too.
The wifi came and went and could have been better but I would definitely recommend this Cabin and if I was in the area I would stay again.
The beachfront home was a great place to stay and ended up being much better than the previous nights I had spent at the Kalahari Resort down the street. It was an easy exchange and the home has a great view of Lake Erie. I got some amazing pictures. I recommend staying here over hotels in the area!

Thank you Matt! Keep us in mind if future travel brings you in this direction!
